Happy #SelfCareDay! Today, we're proud to launch new guidance to support countries implementing and scaling up self-care interventions for health & well-being. HRP Director Pascale Allotey marked the day saying: "In the five years since the World Health Organization published its landmark 2019 guideline on self-care interventions for health, which focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights (#SRHR), over 47 countries have taken the vital step of amending national policies on SRHR to include self-care options as additional choices complementing facility-based health care. This guidance for health systems builds on that momentum, providing a springboard to implement WHO’s evidence-based self-care recommendations and practices equitably and sustainably." On this #WorldContraceptionDay, it's important to recognize that increased voluntary contraceptive use is crucial to reducing maternal deaths, especially in low- and middle-income countries where access to maternal health care may be inconsistent. When sexual and reproductive health services are accessible - from stable times through crises - communities are better equipped to face future shocks and stressors. Together, we can build a more resilient world through equitable access to these vital services.
