🧠 What Does Deloitte Latest Research Tell Us About the Importance of Mental Health in the Workplace? 🧠 Deloitte’s latest 2024 Gen Z and Millennial Survey delivers a powerful message: Mental health is no longer just a personal issue—it’s a critical business priority. According to research, Gen Zs and Millennials are reporting high levels of stress and anxiety. With 46% of Gen Zs and 39% of Millennials citing concerns about their mental health, it’s clear that employers investment in workplace wellbeing has never been more crucial. I would highly recommend taking a read of the full report, a few highlights include: 🧡 Mental Health is a Workplace Imperative: The survey reveals that younger employees prioritise mental health more than ever. They’re seeking employers who understand this and actively support it through comprehensive mental health programs, flexible working conditions, and a culture of compassion and empathy. 📈 Impact on Retention and Engagement: Mental health is directly linked to employee satisfaction and retention. Companies that fail to address these concerns risk losing top talent. Gen Zs and Millennials are more likely to stay with employers who demonstrate a genuine commitment to their well-being. 🙋♀️ The Call for Leadership Action: Leadership has a crucial role to play. The report highlights that employees want empathetic leaders, who talk openly about mental health, and who invest in resources to support their teams. Making this a priority helps to encourage cross-org compassionate culture and foster a more resilient and engaged workforce. Deloitte’s research shows us that addressing mental health in the workplace isn’t just a trend—it’s a necessity for attracting and retaining the best talent in today’s competitive landscape. Employers who prioritise supporting their staff through ups and downs, acting with compassion and empathy will improve their employees' well-being and strengthen their overall business performance. 💡 Check out the full report in the comments & share it with your network!

A recent report from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School reveals that workplace wellbeing in the U.S. has hit a new low post-pandemic! 🧠 Mental health issues are pervasive, with 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟱 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. 𝘈𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦, 7.8% 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 19.1% 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘹𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 (𝘔𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢, 2020). But this crisis isn’t felt equally by all workers. ⚖️ Female, African-American, younger, and less senior employees are more likely to report lower levels of well-being, while male, Caucasian, older, and senior employees tend to report higher well-being levels. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀. Beyond the ethical imperative of equal treatment, organizations can’t afford to overlook this growing well-being crisis, which is costing the global economy a staggering $1 trillion annually due to issues like depression and anxiety. And it’s not just mental wellbeing. 💵 Financial stress is also increasing, fueled by an economic climate that has seen the costs of basic needs soar. Pew Research Center (2021) shows that anxiety over financial security is linked to more significant psychological distress. With shelter costs rising by 5.2% and over 60% of employees stating their pay hasn’t kept up with expenses, the strain is mounting. So how can we adopt a different approach? Below I share six steps to take to rethink your approach to well-being and adopt a more impactful approach 👇 https://aihr.ac/4estgc7 ← Get exclusive insights like this delivered straight to your inbox—subscribe to our Leading HR newsletter today! 📩 #HR #HumanResources #MentalHealth #HRNews
