Stronger together 💪 In the spirit of the SEA2SEE Project and FishEUTrust Project #collaboration, we are happy to highlight a key moment of both projects’ participation in the #EuropeanOceandays in Brussels at the beginning of March. 🤝 The posters presented by SUBMON and AquaBioTech Group were displayed next to each other in the “Sustainability” section during the “Where next for Europe’s Seas” day. The #EuropeanOceanDays was a great opportunity to unite stakeholders from across Europe in their discussion of #maritime topics and vision for the future of Europe’s seas, with a perspective to 2050. The initial outcome of #COPUOS2024 initiative; "Incentives for companies to employ sustainable solutions," is poised to significantly advance #sustainable practices in outer space. Throughout history, human endeavors have been driven by two pivotal elements: #Motive and #Incentive. These factors crucially influence our determination and progress toward achieving desired goals 🎯. By advocating for the incentivization of companies that adopt ♻️sustainable solutions, this initiative will fundamentally transform our approach to utilizing outer space, steering it towards the greater good of humanity.

The ENTRACK Project is now moving from the theoretical - conceptualising phase to the more practical one. There were plenty of open loops that had to be discussed to agree on their closure and to plan the next activities. There were presentations on closed activities, presentations of the coming ones and brainstorming for the future ones and I believe we did a great job (but I might not be very objective). Thanks to João Pedro Gouveia an the team at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and CENSE - Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research, we closed the #taxonomy of #socialenergypolicies in a #multigovernance level, from #European policies to #local policies. Thanks to Kilowatt we closed the #ethnography looking into understanding and perceptions of citizens of policies and their implementation. Thanks to the Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy Foundation (IEECP) we analysed the needs and perceptions of local stakeholders. We now have a solid knowledge and understanding of the needs and dynamics. Thanks to Rete Assist we will now attempt to carry out a #2stepselfassessment of the policies, initially guiding the #municipalities to selfassess their policies and then comparing the results of their perception with that of the citizens (as outcome of the ethnography). Thanks to #CCR we will build the #training needed to address the knowledge and capacity gaps of the policy levels (as identified in the 2stepselfassessment). Once closed also these 2 next activities we will have the full picture of needs of citizens, we will have empowered citizens and policy staff, we will have pinpointed the policy gaps and we will be able to start the #codesign of #socialenergyplans. Ambitious plans but with such a great consortium we will manage and I am really looking forward to all the next steps.

🎉 Last week we were pleased to interact with our partners and other Copernicus stakeholders at the 1st CLMS General Assembly taking place in Antwerp. 🤝 It’s always nice to catch up, but it's also important to align our work around user requirements for EvoLand (CLMS) and build momentum for our user uptake work for Urban Atlas, Small Landscape Features and Protected Areas Copernicus EEA. 📌 Here are some of our highlights from the event: - It is impossible to talk about LAND without spending enough time in understanding the drivers of the planetary crisis. The keynote speech by Janez Potocnik, Co-Chair of the International Resource Panel at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, was clearly a special treat that we invite everyone to discover. - Copernicus Thematic Hubs still have great potential, not only in fulfilling the role of bringing #Copernicus closer to the thematic users, but also in fostering collaboration between the different Copernicus services. We'll be closely following the preparation and launch of the Biodiversity Hub, as well as other potential Hubs mentioned (International Partnerships, Cultural Heritage, Food Security...). - While it’s great to see the service evolving with technology (with the upcoming chatbot prototype of the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem), it's also important to ensure that the key principles of “trust”, “reliability” and “continuity” remain at the heart of the service. This is a clear reflection of user needs, and sometimes reassurance that business will continue as usual can be seen as the most valuable information.
