Medical writing is an area in the writing industry that is gradully gaining its stance. I once talked about it with a group of people and the response I got was “Medical writing?” Yes! Medical writing. It’s a thing. As a matter of fact, let me re-introduce myself, my name is Sophia and I’m a seasoned medical writer. I WRITE and SPEAK on medical matters and conditions to both health care and non health care people. #medicalwriting #medicalwriter #medical #medics #healthcare #healthcareprofessional #nurse #nursing #writer #writing #innovation

A Year 2 Nursing Student Turn To Medical Writer. It was a pickles magic 🍏 But that's not true... Here's how I first discovered my passion for medical writing in my school though it wasn't exactly love at first sight. It all started one fateful Friday morning..... when our lecturer walked into the class with that unmistakable look You know, the one that says, Brace yourselves, something’s coming. if not will be a sacrificial Lamb. And With a smile that could only mean trouble. She stood and announced that we'll be doing a seminar i.e We'll be writing health topic.. Do U know what came in my mind But... we aren't certified with a degree then until I realized you mustn't necessary own a certificate before you could write and educate... Once you're able to understand and digest it, you're good to go. Back to the story The lecturer then divided us into 10 groups, and I was assigned to Group 9. Each group was tasked with finding a Topic for the seminar. After researching online, I came up with a topic that was interesting.. that's what I do for my client. Excellent I wasn't the group leader but my group decided to go with it. What a perfect topic! After that We divided the work among ourselves. I took on the challenge, thoroughly researching my part. After long hours of preparation, we submitted our work to our lecturer. Shocking part 😃 On the day of the seminar, we stood up there like a proud peacock. my group presented Okay 👍 but there was a mistake.. that's our "Reference" I was happy because I learned from that mistake.. Here's the thing. medical writing isn't all about stringing fancy words together but is about backing them Good source. Accuracy is everything. That day taught me the hard work, And it sparked something in me. Despite the blunders and the nervous laughs from other groups, I fell in love with the process... From that point on, I knew I was hooked. And that’s how I stumbled into this crazy, wonderful world of medical writing, Ps: Love this! share so others can learn Have you face a public shamed before ?? share. #medicalwriting #healthwriter #seminarwriting

Hey Fellow Pharmacists, I hope you’re all doing well! While scrolling through LinkedIn today, I realized that medical writing has evolved into a recognized career path for healthcare professionals. Reflecting on our university days, we dedicated countless hours to studying medical textbooks, yet many of us never considered medical writing as a viable career option. We often envisioned ourselves as industrial pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, or hospital pharmacists. However, it's inspiring to see many pharmacy graduates now embracing medical writing, whether as part-time or full-time careers. This shift is a reminder that we should start recognizing the potential of this field during our academic years. I'll say that medical writing is a goldmine of opportunities. It allows us to conduct research and articulate complex scientific information in a way that others can understand and benefit from. If you’re considering venturing into this field, here are some tips to help you get started: -Leverage Your Clinical Knowledge -Develop Your Writing Skills -Stay Current - Connect with other medical writers and healthcare professionals #MedicalWriting #PharmacistCareers #Pharmacy #Healthcare #PharmaceuticalIndustry #CareerGrowth #WritingTips

When I started the transition from working as an RN in a clinical environment to writing, I was a unicorn. This was in the 90s and there were few nurses who earned their living as a writer. It was so rare that I had no trouble buying TheNurseWriter.com. (It redirects to medhealthwriter.) Over the years, so many people asked why I made that change, from the floors to my desk at home. They wanted to know why I stopped being a nurse. I never stopped being a nurse. I AM a nurse. A big part of being a nurse is educating people. I tell those who ask that writing about health and medical issues allowed me to do bedside patient teaching to thousands of people instead of just a few. I knew I could write well. I knew how to talk to people, and best of all, I knew how to explain things so anyone could understand them. I'm no longer a unicorn and THE "nurse writer." Other nurses and healthcare professionals have set up shop as writers and are doing a great job. However many are afraid that AI will take the work away from them. In coaching sessions, they ask me about it. I say that AI may take content mill work - that's no surprise. But no AI can replace the depth of experience that a nurse has, a nurse who has spoken with those patients and held those hands. AI didn't comfort a family as their loved one drew their last breath. AI didn't teach parents how to give an insulin shot to their child with newly diagnosed diabetes. AI didn't gently distract the patient who desperately asked for the 10th time that night when her husband would come and get her, forgetting that her husband died years ago. If you need a writer, content developer, or editor for health information, you can't go wrong seeking out a nurse writer for that work. We may ask for higher rates, but we're worth it. Because when it comes to health writing, you need accurate, well-written content. But you also need the years of education and experience that a nurse can bring to the table. Let me know if I can help you with your content needs. Or, do a search for nurse writers and see if there is someone else who might be a good fit for you. We're worth it. #nursewriter #nurses #healthcontent #healthnews #healthandwellness #healthliteracy #freelancewriting

I lied to a client. And told them I knew how to write research papers. This was right in the beginning of my #medicalwriting journey. That time I didn’t even know it was called medical writing! I was looking for #freelance clients to make more money as a #medicalwriter. A mere 23-year-old intern still in college. That’s when I found this client who wanted to write a research paper. Let alone writing a #researchpaper, I used to run away from #research as much as possible during college. But when they asked me if I knew how to write one, I very confidently said yes! I thought that I would just learn to write it! Over the course of time, I kept giving their assessments and kept learning about research bit by bit. By the end, I had completely tanked my application with them (obviously, duh! I didn’t know sh!t about research or #scientificwriting). But, I had learnt HOW TO LEARN! Which was way more important than getting that particular client. Safe to say, 4 years down the line, I no longer need to lie about my skills. I used these years to upskill myself, and now I am confident enough to say if there is something I don’t know about. That is the biggest takeaway here. You don’t have to know EVERYTHING before you start. Just start! You will learn along the way. But listennnn!! If you’re looking for the push to start, I am running a #medicalwritingcourse from June 15, 2024. It’s the perfect place to learn everything you need to start, and then you can keep learning along the way. We have limited slots, and they are filling fast. Also, we have an early bird price going on right now. So, grab your seat ASAP (link is in the first comment). I’ll see you there!! All my love 💖 #heathcare #digitalhealth #doctors #nurses #dentists #bams #bhms #pharma #healthcomms #freelancewriting #medicical #nonclinical #courses
