When setting down or raising landing gear, forceful exertion can cause sprains and strains. Make sure you stand perpendicular to the crank and assume a power stance to shift weight through the trunk and legs. Clear any debris and use two hands to crank. If safety is of any concern to you or your organization take heed of the following. If you ever see a carrier roll up with their straps like this I’d consider it a red flag. This particular individual seems to have sprayed wd -40 or something to help with corrosion but I still would pass it. 1.It could be a safety issue as the strap traps moisture and worst even salt in the winter time wherein the winch begins to corrode. 2.It’s inefficient in terms of saving time when loading. 3. It’s lazy. I helped an elderly man secure his load the other day this is how he had them rolled up. For one I am not too fond of throwing a metal hook to the other side of the trailer. The winch kept crackling(probably rust scaling off) as I tightened the strap and it never really felt like it ever did “tighten” like I’m used to. This is a safety hazard, the load is not as secure as it should be. I advise him about what I thought about it, he simply grunted and said “thank you it’s fine like that”. Choose your providers wisely. Look for the signs. Talk with the people on the ground and you just might save yourself a few headaches.👌 #safety #trucking #flatbed #quality
