Paris was stunning, the events were flawless, the transport was a cinch, and it was amazing to be a part of the drama and excitement of it. Paris put its best foot forward, showing its global guests an incredible time. It was so great that we are all in for LA28. If you caught the fever of the five rings and want to go to the next Olympics, I get it. And I can help. My five most important tips if you want to hit 2026 (Milano Cortino), 2028 (Los Angeles), or beyond: 1. Plan two years out or more if you can. 2. Sign up for official (event) ticket lotteries. 3. Get tickets for lesser-known and non-medal events (or splurge and go all in on dramatic finals). 4. Book your lodging a year or more in advance. Expect to prepay in full.  5. I always assumed going to the Olympics was out of reach, an exclusive global event only for people with big budgets and even bigger connections. We have neither. The #Paris2024Olympics are just round the corner. I thought I should share some titbits about the Olympics. Today's focus is on the #IOC recommendation for digital interventions... The International Olympic Committee adopted the Olympic Agenda 2020+5 in March, 2021. This Agenda consists of a raft of 15 recommendations which are partly inspired by learnings from previous Olympic cycles and partly from contemporary trends. As an avid follower of multi disciplinary events in the Olympic Games over the years, I vividly recall the different editions based on where I was, who I was watching with, how we dashed to the nearest television to catch the events etc. More on that later... I am therefore particularly curious about how recommendation eight (8) of the Agenda - Grow digital engagement with people - will affect our Olympics experience. Some of the key developments under this recommendation are: 1. Using Olympic digital and social media channels to deliver engagement during and between the Olympic Games. 2. Building a single people-centric digital platform, Olympics.com. There has been a large scale consolidation of Olympic digital properties, technology, content production, marketing communications, data management and the like on this platform. In addition to delivering original content about the Olympics, this platform should enhance digital engagement opportunities and create more personalised user experiences. Only fantasy games have reached the Olympics, people! 3. Integrating the Olympic Channel under https://lnkd.in/dGCCJYC7 to provide a dedicated sports video section and linear channel. Its main purpose is to maintain year-round interest in the Olympic Movement, offering captivating documentaries and other programming chronicling the Olympic Games, as well as coverage of Olympic sports outside the Games. Users can stream live coverage of major sporting events, watch replays, original series and films, and get the latest sports videos on demand. What to think of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Opinions seem to have been flying in the last 3 days. It was a true demonstration of unity and the desire to represent France in all its splendor to the eyes of the whole world. The party was a success, despite the pessimistic predictions of some. Those who chose to focus on the negative details missed the essential: a grandiose and audacious celebration, rich in emotions. This ceremony was beautiful, provocative, evocative moments of joy and pride for all generations and a touch of insolence. It highlighted the importance of art in our lives and our society. It also combined our cultural references with the desire to innovate and shake things up. To quote Tony Estanguet, "humanity is beautiful when it comes together!" And that's exactly what we saw: a celebration where modernity and classicism, humor and professionalism, audacity and postures came together for an evening full of joy. The ceremony may have shocked some, but that's also the whole point: to question us, to shake up our certainties. To create strong moments. The artistic performances were impressive, moving, offbeat and intelligent in the finesse of the references suggested. This ceremony, whether we liked it or not, offered a real artistic vision, intense and uncompromising. Bravo for all the emotions it aroused and reflections brought on the ability to animate people and achieve this type of performance in unison. From this point of view, the opening ceremony of Paris 2024 is a great success! It is this spirit of innovation and courage that we must transpose into our professional life. In business, as in this ceremony, it is unity, diversity and the ability to think outside the box that allow us to achieve the impossible. Together, everything becomes possible and that is what moves us forward. I hope many of you have been able to enjoy the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics this weekend and are celebrating the amazing athletes competing there. I personally squeeze in every moment where I can and my family does too. It brings young and old together, and people from all religions and backgrounds. It is truly a remarkable event. As the Olympics website says: "The Olympic Games offer a look into what a better and more peaceful future could be..." Unfortunately as with any major event, and human nature, some people have been turning to social media sharing things like "the opening ceremony was a mockery". The thing that I felt compelled to share here is that this is human nature and this is EXACTLY what we face when we drive transformation and innovation in our small to large businesses...our human brain is hardwired for negativity. When we are faced with something NEW, something different, the first thing our brain will do is come up with many negative scenarios of how this will not end well (for us) and turn up our cortisol levels (= stress) and activate our fight, flight or freeze mode to "protect" us from harm. There's a lot more I can share on this topic, so feel free to reach out if you are keen to go a bit deeper, but in essence, leaders... we need to help ourselves and the people "in our care" to validate our negative assumptions, before acting on them. Often it is as simple as being curious, asking questions, to validate if our negative assumptions (the scenarios made up in our head) are realistic or not. Create a safe space for your employees to be able to ask questions about changes coming up, share concerns or key considerations for how to approach the change. This will eliminate a lot of the negativity around something new, something unknown and different, and will optimise collaboration and innovation as it reduces stress associated with change significantly. Also, use the Olympics as a great way to connect with your colleagues and team members, be curious as to what others are enjoying and experiencing, it will deepen relationships and optimise collaboration! :-) Have a great week and enjoy the Olympics! #Olympicgames #employeeengagement #negativebias
