𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐲’𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 With only four apartments available, our selection process is rigorous. Our selection criteria prioritizes families committed to change, ensuring that our limited resources make a lasting impact: ✅ Self-Elimination: Some families intentionally seek alternative housing, removing themselves from consideration. ✅ Criminal Offense Nature: Violent offenses against children or the elderly disqualify individuals. However, most other offenses can be considered with the right context. ✅ Willingness for Change: A critical requirement is the mother's genuine desire to change. Without this commitment, we run the risk of being just another housing program, which we strive not to be. Our process is inclusive and does not discriminate based on race, color, creed, national origin, or religious preference. We seek families ready to embrace change, allowing for meaningful support and lasting transformation. If you know families that could benefit from our program or want to get involved, please reach out to Mercy’s Shore. Together, we can create a brighter future for those in need! #NonProfitOrganization #CommunitySupport #TransformingLives #Philanthropy

🌟 Transforming Faith into Homes: A New Path for Communities 🌟 Did you know that religious groups own millions of acres of land and thousands of underutilized buildings across the U.S.? These spaces hold incredible potential to help solve America’s affordable housing crisis. 🏘️ Success Stories: Take Arlington Presbyterian Church in Virginia. By transforming its building into 173 affordable housing units, the church embraced a mission bigger than itself, proving how faith and innovation can reshape communities. 🛠️ Challenges: Converting churches into housing isn’t simple—it requires navigating zoning laws, financing hurdles, and community debates. Yet, the opportunities are immense: one study suggests faith-owned land could create 700,000+ housing units in urban areas alone! 💡 Hope for the Future: Organizations like RootedGood and LA Voice are empowering faith groups with the tools to develop housing, childcare centers, and even healthcare hubs. Together, they’re reimagining these spaces as vibrant centers of community care. 📣 A Call to Action: What if our local churches or temples could help tackle the housing shortage? With patience, creativity, and collaboration, faith-based organizations are proving they can be a part of the solution. Let’s unlock the power of “Yes in God’s Backyard!” #AffordableHousing #FaithInAction #CommunityCare #YIGBY #HousingSolutions #HomesForAll

Ok - so you may be one of those people who saw all the #GivingTuesday posts and thought it would be good to support them but ended up not doing anything. Well, I have great news for you - today can be #Ididnotletanotheropportunitypass day! And I have even better news - you can do it and get 100% of your donation back! I am talking about supporting one of the amazing Foster Care Organizations in Georgia by making a donation through the Fostering Success Act Tax Credit. As long as you are a Georgia taxpayer, you can be approved (it just takes a few minutes) and make a donation then get 100% of the money back when you file your taxes in 2025. Below is a link to the Goshen Valley website (the Foster Care Organization I support) which has an easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to take advantage of this. When you go to the State of Georgia website you will see the other 38 approved FCO's if you want to find one in your area. These organizations depend on our support - and the donations from the tax credit are a GAME CHANGER for them! So there it is...will you let another opportunity go by or will you take a few minutes and change lives for the better? For those of you that support this post, please like or share and help get the word out. Let's make today #Ididnotletanotheropportunitypass day!

💡 Did You Know? 🧓🤝 The Corporation for National and Community Service has updated regulations for the AmeriCorps Seniors programs, including the Senior Companion Program (SCP), Foster Grandparent Program (FGP), and RSVP! 🌟 These updates make it easier to calculate volunteer stipend eligibility, allow stipends during administrative leave, and offer grantees the flexibility to pay stipends at a higher rate. 💸 Additionally, RSVP sponsors now have a consistent match rate of 10% regardless of grant year, and nomenclature reflects the operational change to AmeriCorps! 🚀 #AmeriCorps #SeniorVolunteers #CommunityService #AmeriCorpsSeniors #SeniorCompanionProgram #FosterGrandparentProgram #RSVP #VolunteerUpdates #NonprofitLeadership #VolunteerStipend

Articulating the 'why' behind any #candidacy is paramount. The City of #Largo #invested in me, my family, and our #neighborhood, catalyzing transformative #change. As a #lifelong #resident, I've experienced firsthand the impact of proactive community policies, particularly in #housing, #childcare and #communityengagement. My journey in Largo began at one year old, when my #family settled in the back unit of a #duplex in a challenged neighborhood. In 1996, pivotal changes occurred with the establishment of the Lake Palms #Outreach Center, a collaborative effort by the City of Largo #Recreation Department, the Largo #Police Department, and the #Juvenile #Welfare Board. This initiative provided #free #yearround services for youth under 18, offering a #safespace for #community-building, #games, #activities, #sports, #tutoring, field trips and #meals. Simultaneously, #communitypolicing initiatives fostered #trust and connection between law enforcement and residents. These efforts #revitalized our neighborhood, prompting residents to transition from #renters to #homeowners, including my own family. Inspired by dedicated #teachers, familial support, and by Largo's Outreach program, I overcame #academic #challenges to excel academically, culminating in recognition and awards by fifth grade. However, personal losses, including the passing of my grandmother and father and the impact of national tragedies like 9/11 all in 2001, underscored the #resilience and #compassion within our #community, which was #underscored to me by the #actions of those at Lake Palms Outreach Center. Despite adversities like #natural #disasters, such as #Hurricane Francis in 2004, I persevered academically, graduating with honors from Osceola High School and becoming the #first in my family to attend #university. Yet, the escalating #cost of #homeownership in Largo underscores the urgent need for #inclusive #policies that ensure #affordability and #opportunity for all residents. Today, I'm compelled to run for Largo City Commission to #uphold our community's #legacy of #inclusivity and #opportunity. While I can't recreate my #youth, I'm #committed to fostering a Largo that prioritizes #equity, #affordability, and the realization of every resident's #potential, regardless of their #background or #circumstances. There is still time to register for this very powerful and informative training. Thank you Catie White, CFRE for provding us with this amazing opportunity to learn. Trauma-Informed Care is a lens in which we interact with our communities to best support their healing and needs. Tenants of trauma-informed care include safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. Applying these tenants to the fundraising space helps empower fundraisers to build a stronger communications and language that works to include donors in the work of justice and healing. Learning objectives will include how to craft narratives that center lived experience without othering or trivializing lived experience, how to practically apply trauma-informed principles to our work, and how to engage donors in the process of trauma-informed systems that lead to healthier philanthropic interactions and stronger community ties. Across PWF’s nine jurisdictions, there have been both significant steps forward and troubling steps back in the fight to catalyze a transformative approach to justice that is community-led, restorative, and racially just. The ebb and flow may slow us down. It may cause us to regroup. But it doesn’t stop our march onward. #Philanthropy #CommunityInvestment #Community #RestorativeJustice #TransformativeJustice
