🌍 Driving Sustainable Impact Together 🌏 Organisations often struggle with starting and sustaining impactful initiatives. With the G17Eco platform, we’ve designed solutions to navigate these complexities and direct finance towards meaningful outcomes. There’s a growing shift towards green careers and skills, but education is still crucial. We support this with practical resources for developing transferable skills. Highlighting #greenfluencers and their amazing changes is key. Providing platforms for these leaders helps inspire collective progress. At The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) for London Climate Action Week #LCAW2024, our Chief Impact Officer, Musidora Jorgensen, was joined by: 🌟 Margarita Samsonova, a sustainability and nature documentarist, leading the movement for #greenfluencers to use their voice to advocate for change. 🌟 🔌 AY Young, leading the Battery Tour —a renewable energy-powered grassroots concert series raising funds to provide portable, solar-powered boxes to villages without reliable electricity. He’s also producing Project17, with one song for each of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. 🌟 Nadia Humphreys, Head of Sustainable Finance at Bloomberg, who spoke about ensuring finance flows to the areas driving the most sustainable outcomes. Aligning our goals and data usage is vital. In 2015, the United Nations set forth the #2030Agenda for Sustainable Development. At its heart are the 17 #SustainableDevelopmentGoals (SDGs), a call to action that urges countries, companies, and communities to work together. As reflected in the Sustainability Report 2023, FLUORSID is fully committed to this journey with its sustainability strategy that focuses on three essential pillars: #Environmental, #Social, and #Governance (ESG). NEW DELIVERABLE on our website! Just Transformations: Sectoral Stakeholder Engagement, Processes and Perceptions of Mainstreaming Nature-based Solutions (09/2024) 💡 What is a just transformation? A just transformation refers to a systemic change that emphasises equity, ensuring all stakeholders are included and that the outcomes are fairly distributed. It is essential for the equitable distribution of NbS benefits. Deliverable 4.2 applied a justice framework, encompassing representation, involvement, and equitable distribution to explore pathways for more just and equitable development of NbS. 🤔 How? Identifying win-win scenarios aligning economic interests with ecosystem restoration. MERLIN engaged six economic sectors - agriculture, hydropower, insurance, inland navigation, peat extraction, and water supply and sanitation – through roundtables, workshops, and interviews, forming sectoral Communities of Practice (CoPs) to encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration. The CoPs were designed to create ownership, driving the mainstreaming of NbS across sectors. 🖐️ What challenges are we facing? Challenges regarding the financial feasibility of large-scale implementation of NbS projects and ongoing conceptual confusion, especially in defining and measuring the effectiveness of NbS. Demonstrating tangible benefits and developing standard metrics is needed for broader support. 🌍 What is essential for a just NbS transformation? Representation and inclusion. The CoPs engaged influential stakeholders but lacked local landowners and communities, challenging full representative justice. However, the focus on EU-level engagement was essential for addressing higher level barriers, including clearer regulatory guidance and other institutional sector-specific challenges. ⚖️ Distributional justice is also essential for just transformations: Stakeholders raised concerns about who should bear the costs of NbS and who benefits from its implementation. Addressing these concerns through clear incentives and equitable responsibility-sharing will be crucial for mainstreaming NbS. Interested in more? BRIDGING THE TECHNOLOGY DIVIDE IN GREENTECH Without action to limit climate change, its environmental impact will continue to amplify inequalities and could undermine development and poverty eradication. At the same time, actions to curb environmental degradation and resource scarcity could further amplify inequality, if they are increasing the technology divide. The World Economic Forum's Sustainable Development Impact Meetings 2024 and #ClimateWeekNYC are not only a reminder of the need for #SocialEntrepreneurs being uniquely positioned to drive public value creation by addressing society’s most pressing issues, but as well the need to design all solutions so they bridge the technology divide - for a green and just transformation.
