📢 Looking back on #COP16 As #COP29 begins today in Baku, we’re taking a look back on COP16 which ended in Cali, Colombia earlier this month. After an intensive and insightful week, our team returned with fresh perspectives and renewed commitment. The message was loud and clear: we must urgently address extraction, overexploitation, and pollution if we are to achieve the goal of improving global biodiversity by 30% by 2030. Here are our main takeaways from  COP16: 🟢 Scaling nature-positive solutions: Accelerating bioregional and regenerative approaches is essential, and new MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) tools are helping bridge data gaps, signaling that the time for action is now. 🟢 Nature-positive bioeconomy: The bioeconomy has the potential to drive sustainable land use or perpetuate exploitation. A nature-positive approach that centers on Indigenous and local communities is vital for resilient ecosystems and thriving communities. 🟢 Land and water as one: COP16 highlighted that addressing seascapes and landscapes separately weakens ecosystem resilience. A unified approach to land and water is essential for effective biodiversity protection. 🟢 Rethinking urban spaces: Cities are unique hubs for sustainable change. Redesigning urban systems with nature in mind is crucial for resilience and biodiversity. 🟢 The power of collective action: Real progress relies on cross-sector partnerships that share responsibility and unite around measurable goals. Only together can we turn ambition into lasting impact. As we keep a close eye on COP29, we’re looking to advocate for nature-positive approaches in the agreements ahead. The path ahead may be challenging, but the urgency for action has never been greater. Keen to discuss how we can collectively drive biodiversity forward?
