This successful Alberta-based artist knows all too well that the art industry is a beautiful but competitive one. When Julie deBoer founded Mastrius she did so knowing how it feels to be burned out by lack of support and mentorship in her field, as well as how isolation can impact success and happiness. Self-taught and often alone in her studio, she says she had no idea how to nurture and cultivate her skills further or how to identify gaps in her own knowledge. She needed mentors, community and collaboration to thrive! Through this experience, Julie became determined to help others find what is often missing for global creatives. Founding a platform (Mastrius) that supports artists through real relationships in a supportive, non- competitive, goals-focused, community. We’re thrilled to celebrate Julie deBoer as she steps into the role of President at Mastrius—The founder will lead the organization into 2025, no doubt furthering it’s success in redefining connection through technology that focuses on people first. Julie is the heartbeat of Mastrius, shaping its mission and cultivating a platform and business that is based in authentic connection, team-building, and growth. 2025 will see Mastrius expand from the arts to sport and hockey coaching! At Metiquity Ventures, we invest in people and purpose, and Julie and her team embody both. Her vision for Mastrius is ambitious yet deeply grounded: real relationships, real growth, and real impact. To Julie and the entire Mastrius team—here’s to the next chapter! 🚀 Mike deBoer Bryan Slauko, CFA | Jacques LaPointe #Leadership #Innovation #Mentorship #Community #StartupGrowth #Mastrius

🌍 Building Bridges for a More Inclusive Future In my journey as a co-founder of UPEO, I’ve discovered the incredible power of expanding my network by connecting with underrepresented communities and working with partners who bring fresh perspectives. These collaborations don’t just benefit my business—they also inspire my team, build trust with my partners, and fuel new opportunities for growth. 🚀 By embracing diversity and fostering meaningful partnerships, I’ve seen firsthand how business can thrive when we break barriers and create space for inclusion. It’s not just about strategy—it’s about real impact and lasting connections. 🙌 So, let me ask you: How are you making your network more diverse and impactful? How are you driving change in your community or organisation? 💬 I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let’s start a conversation about how we can all grow through collaboration. This was the last of 3 videos in this series, which were created for Partena Professional in collaboration with Absolute agency, in particular with Yasmine Robert 😅 Check them out on @DreamsLab_NL or @DreamsLab_FR on instagram!! #Diversity #Inclusion #Leadership #Collaboration #Innovation #Growth #Entrepreneurship

What high school football players taught me about female leadership Yesterday, I sat in the stands of a high school football championship game that meant more than just points on a scoreboard. In my hometown of Coldwater, Ohio, these games are about community, resilience, and something I've been wrestling with lately as a female founder – the balance between strength and emotion. As I watched these young men compete for their eighth state title, I found myself fighting back tears multiple times. Not just because of the incredible plays or the fierce determination on display, but because of who wasn't on that field – #70 Cale Wenning, a friend of my youngest son, who passed away during opening week. In small towns like ours, these losses cut deep. Every family feels them. Every victory carries their memory. But what struck me most was the composure. Coach Otten and his players, including Noah Welsch – Cale's closest friend – stood before the cameras after their 31-7 victory with a quiet strength that spoke volumes. No tears. No breakdown. Just dignity and grace, even as Noah attributed his game-changing fumble recovery to his "boy upstairs" in one of the best interviews I have ever seen. As a founder in the wedding industry, I often find myself getting emotional. I feel deeply. For a long time, I've wondered if this makes me weak – especially in the male-dominated tech startup world. But watching those Coldwater players yesterday taught me something profound about emotion and strength. They weren't strong because they didn't feel – they were strong because they channeled those feelings into purpose. Their emotions didn't make them weak; they made them unified, determined, and unstoppable. To my fellow female founders who worry about being "too emotional": maybe our capacity to feel deeply isn't a weakness at all. Maybe it's what helps us understand our users better, build more empathetic products, and create stronger communities around our brands. Perhaps the real strength lies not in holding back tears, but in letting them remind us why we started this journey in the first place. As I build Dressit.ai I'm carrying forward the lessons learned from these high school players: that composure doesn't mean emotional absence, that community is our greatest strength, and that sometimes our greatest inspiration comes from unexpected places – like a group of teenage boys and a coach who showed me what it means to be tough and tender at the same time.

🏀 That's me with my basketball team in school! I played basketball for over 10 years, spending most of those years as captain, always among the first five on the court. But here's something surprising: I almost never scored a point. Sounds odd, right? I wasn’t a great shooter—but I was an exceptional strategist and passer. My role was never about grabbing the spotlight, but about making sure my team could shine. And that’s a lesson that’s stuck with me throughout my entrepreneurial journey. In business, just like in basketball, it’s not about being the one scoring all the points. It’s about being a team player, supporting others, and celebrating their victories as your own. A great team wins together. Playing a team sport taught me: 1. The value of being free from ego 2. The importance of a long-term, wider lens 3. And the strength in never giving up—not just for yourself but for the team that depends on you. These principles guide me every day in entrepreneurship, where success is truly a collective effort. If you're looking to build a stronger team and a winning strategy, let's connect and share ideas. After all, it's the passes that lead to the points. 🏆

It’s hard to comprehend LeBron’s longevity. LeBron James played in the Olympics in 2004, in 2008, in 2012, and he is playing now, in 2024. Yeah, it’s impressive that he’s played in four of these things. What’s even more impressive to me, though, is that the bookends are 20 years apart. LeBron hasn’t witnessed the shift in generations — in basketball and in business — he has lived it. In 2004, when the US “won” bronze in Athens, he was on a team with Aught superstars Allen Iverson and Tim Duncan. The two of them are now 49 and 48. To put that in reverse perspective, the current version of the team features Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton. The two of them were 3 and 4 when LeBron played in Athens. LeBron was there in Athens. And LeBron is still here in Paris. Longevity. Don’t get me wrong we’ll all take quick money, quick success. We’ll all take a quick 100x exit from a company. What LeBron has accomplished, as far as sheer longevity, far as years of dominance, though, has not been matched in basketball…and never will. But I’m always looking for businesses, stocks and companies that can stand the test of time. After all, stacking good days and stacking wins is how the Hall of Fame -- and generational wealth -- are acquired. Anyway…another observation on the #Olympics2024

In any culture, there are two A's The Authentic. & The Actors. What your timeline was inevitably flooded with last week was Kendrick Lamar exploiting Drake for a LOT of things. Some unproven, some proven. One proven point was about Drake's "Culture Vulture" behavior. People always ask me what culture vultures are, so here's a brief description: This is when the actors come into a space that has gone mainstream (In this case Hip-Hop) and utilize ALL the parts that generate wealth, attention and fame but purposefully avoid engagement with any place, person or thing in that culture that doesn't help them grow financially. Sound familiar? 🤔 This rap battle was won by the authentic. ✅ And the gaming battle will be too. Cuz there have been PLENTY of people who utilize gaming's culture to grow businesses even though they have no history in the communities, no true collaborative goals and aim to "Dominate" the market space. We just gotta be brave enough to point em out. 🫵🏾🦅 #Kendrick #Drake #Esports #Education #Community #Growth #Entrepreneurship
