Mastercard and Faysal Bank have renewed and expanded their strategic partnership to revolutionize Pakistan’s Islamic Banking sector. This collaboration includes the renewal of the Noor credit card portfolio, the launch of Pakistan’s first Islamic corporate credit cards, and SME debit cards.

Lloyds Banking Group is to close another 136 branches across the UK as customers continue the shift to primarily online banking. The bank said that it would close 61 Lloyds branches along with 61 Halifax and 14 Bank of Scotland sites, starting in May with completion of the closure plan in March 2026. Westpac New Zealand has reached a significant milestone, confirming its operational readiness to collaborate with approved third parties on delivering open banking solutions to improve New Zealanders’ banking experiences. The bank has made Payments NZ’s API Centre Payment Initiation v2.1 API Standard available for third parties to connect to. NatWest is shutting 53 more UK bank branches amid customers opting to use online banking. NatWest Group, which consists of NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank, has closed 1,431 branches since 2015, according to analysis from Which? experts.
