Next step: The Minns State Government should immediately require that up to 50% of surplus "public land" ownership sold by State or Local Governments be set aside for affordable housing, especially within walking distance of these rezoned railway stations for residential-grade mid-rise apartments, time to offer inclusive opportunities to Sydney essential workers. This emulates the Mayor of London's successful initiative that requires the same for London Council surplus land sold off for residential use. #sydney #rezoning #midrise

Chris quick question. How do you think these new unit blocks will be built when 40000 apprentices left the industry before becoming full tradesman last year? My view - This isnt a 3-5 year issue it will be a 10-15 year issue. Thats if government act quickly. I can see this turning into the off the plan unit debacle in 2016 to 2018 in Sydney. Vals fell off a cliff. Builders need more checks. subbies and contractors need more protections so they get paid when all these dodgy builders and developers go bust. 3rd party certifiers need more powers to stop progress payments and enforce action. Insurance providers need to build a product where it takes the risk off the 2nd builder coming in halfway to complte projects (we have 1 example of a failed build up our street sit idle for 2.5 years because no builder wanted to take on an incomplete build and the risk involved.) Developers need to be sanctioned and kick from industry with hefty jail terms if they try and start new companies in partners or cousins names. Like 60 mins has just caught 1 guy doing last week. Builders that have a track record of defects must be forced to use certain qualified experienced project managers if they are deemed to be long term non compliant. Out of their own pocket. Lastly remove half of the fees to get builds going and chuck a whole lot more into CDC so it allows people to avoid DA applications. Due to how slow and clunky government at council and state level are. Not in my backyard has to be addressed. Too many older Australians with too much time on their hands are banding together to keep the street quiet. Not realising how much our population is booming. The demand son that population. We need an active tax base to pay for all this. Too many delays. Too many rights to these people. Harsh but has to be said. This is a new Australia. #playerlife #NSW #Sydney Chris Minns

Well designed infrastructure , well designed centres for urban growth close to transport is effective and generates communities . The key though is based on considered design, considered architecture , good landscaping , building apartments that allow for growth so there isn’t a need to necessarily move but adapt . Affordability being key . Government not allowing shoeboxes. NSW could set a global example . We have the opportunity.

Among the 200 largest metro area housing markets, these 5 have the highest median days on market: Naples, FL —> 85 days Punta Gorda, FL —> 80 days Cape Coral, FL —> 78 days North Port, FL —> 74 days Brownsville, TX —> 73 days Among the 200 largest metro area housing markets, these 5 have the lowest median days on market: Manchester, NH —> 16 days Hartford, CT —> 17 days Rochester, NY —> 17 days Rockford, IL —> 19 days San Jose, CA —> 20 days Regionally, there is much greater weakness around the Gulf, including much of Florida, while many markets in the Midwest, Northeast, and SoCal still have much lower days on market. Interested to read the Government's 'Vision for Leeds' with its focus on partnership working, the big ticket (and much needed) mass transit opportunities, and six key neighbourhoods of Mabgate, Eastside & Hunslet Riverside, South Bank, Holbeck, West End Riverside and the Innovation Arc. Also delighted to see Vastint's significant and game changing Aire Park development (which Stantec are involved in delivering) being given the praise and recognition it deserves. There is clearly huge further potential in Leeds with existing and planned development, and in my opinion city centre connectivity (both within and to/from) will be key. However, we also shouldn't lose sight that a strong city centre is only part of the solution, and it is critical that housing, economic growth, and infrastructure needs across Leeds are met in a co-ordinated way. https://lnkd.in/e9J8w4dB

The National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) recently released a report on infrastructure needs and solutions in outer metropolitan growth areas. Many local government areas in Western Sydney have been identified as areas of growth, including Blacktown, Camden, Campbelltown, Liverpool, Penrith, The Hills, and Wollondilly. Growth areas are characterised as areas of significant residential or urban development, either occurring in the last 20 years or planned for the next 20 years. However, this rapid urban development has led to deficits of vital social and strategic transport infrastructure, compounding issues of disadvantage and inequitable access.
