#TEAMBASS hosted our last Vac Work Programme for the year last Friday. It was an engaging and informative day where aspiring CAs(SA) could learn more about the audit space, what it takes to be a successful trainee and to experience our culture. The journey to become a Chartered Accountant is not an easy one but it is worth it - make the most of all the opportunities available to you to network and to learn more about the profession along the way. As our Managing Partner, Abraham Petersen CA (SA) RA, advised our guests: Make an informed decision, not an influenced one. We are still accepting applications for 2025 SAICA traineeship, get in touch if you are interested! We are also accepting applications from students who do not have their PGDA yet. #mgi #gradrecruitment #futurecareer #culture #vacwork #capetown #accounting #audit #tax #corporatefinance #jointhebass

We were delighted that all our sessions ran slightly over schedule - a clear sign that the students were engaged, asked great questions and enjoyed the lively debates. There are numerous ways for students to start investing in their future such as: - attending vac work programmes such as the one MGI Bass Gordon hosted last week - volunteering at an NPO and gaining skills related to their studies (accounting, marketing, events coordination etc) - getting involved with the various student bodies and attending different talks at their universities. Don't finish your studies only to realise you don't know enough about the outside world - start doing your research, developing crucial soft-skills and asking your questions now. #thefutureisyou #youth #empoweryourself #knowledgeispower
A huge thank you to all the aspiring CAs(SA) who joined us for an informative, fun & interactive day at our office. We received really great feedback, and by all accounts rate it as a huge success. The students were engaged, asked great questions and were a pleasure to receive. Our vac work programme aims to inform students about what a well-established mid-tier firm can offer a future CA(SA) during their SAICA training articles. If you are an aspiring CA(SA) and looking for a SAICA traineeship, reach out to our recruitment team today, we could be welcoming you at our next vac work programme. 😉 #gradrecruitment #jointhebass #TEAMBASS #thefutureisbright #capetown #university #charteredaccountants #saica #mgi

If you are a third-year SAICA trainee, this is important ❗ Wondering what you're going to do next year? We are already seeing many of our 3rd year candidates interviewing and being employed for a January 2025 start. The local newly qualified CA market is going to be a bun fight this year! We've seen an 80% reduction in newly qualified CA’s securing audit roles abroad. What that means for you is a LOT more competition for the roles you want in the South African market, the most competitive we have seen in the last 5 years. For this reason, Blue Recruiting has built CAs Online, a brand-new video-enabled platform for soon-to-be-qualified CAs (and part-qualified SAICA candidates) to get discovered by top employers in the most efficient way. Upload your profile now and stand out before others do the same. Plus, there is no cost to you. Create your profile here: https://bit.ly/4eTIVl3. How it works: - Create a profile (it only takes 10 minutes) - Record a 2-minute professional video chatting through your CV and achievements - Get discovered by hundreds of employers looking for newly-qualified CAs.

My ACCA Journey: 2.5 Years of Growth, Dedication, and First-Time Success! As I look back on my ACCA journey, spanning 2.5 years, I feel proud and excited about the road ahead. Starting through the AFD diploma, I managed to clear all my papers on the first attempt, and I’m hopeful to do the same with the final Strategic Business Leader (SBL) paper. The result is due on 14th October 2024, and I’m eagerly awaiting the next step! Key Lessons I’ve Learned: Consistency is Key: Balancing studies with life was no easy task, but staying consistent has paid off. Growth Through Challenges: Every paper, from the initial to the final ones, brought its own set of challenges, but each taught me something valuable. Believing in the Process: ACCA has been a journey of not just technical learning but personal growth as well. What’s Next? With my ACCA qualification almost complete, I’m now looking to gain practical experience in an audit firm through an internship or articleship. I’m eager to apply the skills I’ve acquired and contribute to the field while continuing to learn from seasoned professionals. If you have any advice or opportunities, I would love to connect! Let’s grow and support each other in this journey. #ACCA #ACCAJourney #Audit #Accounting #Finance #Internship #Articleship #GrowthMindset #FirstAttempt #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerInAudit

Here are some specific benefits: ●Effective Study Schedule: Planning your day allows you to allocate time for studying each subject or topic, ensuring comprehensive coverage and understanding. ●Exam Preparation: By planning ahead, you can create a structured study plan leading up to exams, covering all necessary material and allowing for sufficient review time. ●Balanced Study and Life: Planning helps you strike a balance between studying, personal activities, and relaxation, preventing burnout and maintaining overall well-being. ●Deadline Management: Chartered Accountancy programs often have strict deadlines for assignments, projects, and exams. Planning ensures that you stay on track and meet these deadlines effectively. ●Professional Development: Beyond academic studies, planning your day can include time for networking, attending seminars, or gaining practical experience through internships, all of which are essential for a successful career as a Chartered Accountant. ●Self-Improvement: Planning allows you to set aside time for self-assessment, reflection, and continuous learning, enabling you to identify areas for improvement and take proactive steps to enhance your skills and knowledge. a New month... challenging for Accounting professionals. The most I learned as a trainee was in this period...to close a decision, to work smart, to multitask, to break communication barriers and discuss matter with owners and partners....and the confidence boost as well . yes it's tough, but what is not... and yes it's tough, but that's what we too train ourselves to be. #september #CA #articled.students

"MY ICAN JOURNEY" A Word which kept me going "ICAN" The word "ICAN" became my motto, reminding me that I CAN do it. I am thrilled to share that I passed my #ican exams in just one attempt within two and a half years. I discovered #ican in my first year of university, Due to financial constraints, I decided to write the exams after my graduation. However, a seminar I attended changed everything. The speaker shared how her #ican certificate and relevant skills landed her an internship at an accounting firm prior to graduation. I knew I had to follow in her footsteps. Determined to succeed, I found a way to raise funds for my exams. I wrote my ATS 1 in March 2022 and, encouraged by my easy pass, I paid for my ATS 2. As I progressed, the exams became increasingly challenging. I was intimidated by the high failure rates in Performance Management (Skills Level) and Advanced Audit and Assurance (Professional Level), but I refused to be held back by fear. Through hard work, dedication, and steadfast prayer, I pushed through the obstacles and achieved my goal. I passed all my papers without attending any tutorials, relying on #ican study packs and online materials. During my journey, I developed strong time management skills, balancing my reading schedule with work commitments. This is just the beginning of my journey... I'm now open to internship opportunities in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, and Investment Banking. I'm eager to apply my knowledge, gain industry insights, and tackle challenging projects. I look forward to learning from experts in my field.
