The Migration to Post-Quantum Cryptography project, being run out of NIST’s National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE), is going ahead at full throttle. The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is set to release four post-quantum cryptographic algorithms as early as July. NIST’s upcoming release of these algorithms is a proactive measure to safeguard against future quantum threats. Whenever the release happens, it will mark another crucial step in the transition to next-generation cryptographic methods designed to withstand the potential threats posed by future quantum computers. Publishing the new algorithms will help protect the most sensitive kinds of data from being compromised by adversaries in the future. #nist #nccoe #postquantumcryptography #compliance #cyberbreach #cyberattack #hackers #networksecurity #networkforensics #threatintelligence #threatintel #darkweb #securityoperations #informationtechnology #ransomware #databreach Read more: https://lnkd.in/euTUBZVy

Quantum Computing is coming for sure! Do you want to be ready and use a solution who gives you the agility? What Encryption Key have you used in the past? Where are the files? Where are the certificates which are using weak keys? Contact us at Venafi if you cant´t answer this questions.
As quantum computing advances, the ease of breaking encryption will escalate, creating an intensifying curve of threats. Our Chief Innovation Officer, Kevin Bocek, draws a chilling parallel between the future of cybersecurity threats in a post-quantum world and the notorious Heartbleed bug in the latest from Joao-Pierre Ruth in InformationWeek. The future of Europe’s digital security hinges on staying ahead in quantum-proof cryptography. As quantum computing evolves, so do the threats to our current defenses. Cybercriminals are already playing the “harvest now, decrypt later” game, targeting sensitive data for future exploitation. With groundbreaking algorithms already standardized and initiatives like the EU Cyber Resilience Act, Europe has the tools to fortify its cybersecurity for today and tomorrow. https://politi.co/40VpXa2 #PQC #cybersecurity #quantumsafe #cryptography #HNDL

The sense of urgency is growing. The market for post quantum security is poised to surge as governments and companies begin implementing updates to their security infrastructure. At the European Defence Fund meeting this week, data security in a post-quantum world was a frequent topic of discussion. While it is still early days and a real quantum threat may not emerge within the next 12 months, it is not entirely out of the question. There will undoubtedly come a tipping point when much of our current network and system security infrastructures will be rendered ineffective, like a "chocolate teapot," vulnerable to anyone with sufficient quantum computational power. Whether this threshold is at 10,000 stable qubits or 100,000 is a matter of intense debate. However, innovation in this sector is progressing at a breakneck speed. In my view, this tipping point is likely to arrive sooner than most anticipate. #AI #Quantum #GenerativeAI #QuantumComputing #Technology #Security #Encryption #EDF

Had some robust conversations with Richard Searle with Fortanix, Kevin Bocek with Venafi, Min-Hank Ho with Baffle, Inc., Michael Osborne with IBM, and Duncan Jones with Quantinuum about the post-quantum cryptography (PQC) future of #cybersecurity. I asked them speak to something organizations might face when #quantum computers become available--and eventually get into bad actors hands: Will it be open season on compute systems that don't have quantum-caliber defenses? Complex answers, not enough space in one story to share everything we discussed. May stitch some of the interviews into a podcast session follow-up this week. If bad actors get their hands on quantum computers, could the market plunge off a cliff into vulnerabilities worse than #Heartbleed?

Post-#Quantum #Cryptography: White Smoke for #Encryption #Standards, What's Next ? 🔐 A subject of intensive research for decades and standardization since 2016, post-quantum cryptography has remained, until recently, a topic of prospective for many organizations. The #risk posed by the potential capabilities of quantum computing to #break asymmetric encryption was known, but new encryption standards were needed to address this on a large scale. ⚙ These standards are now known: #NIST published three this summer, including a “backup” standard, and a fourth is expected to be released soon. This publication marks the beginning of a new era: publishers must #adapt their products, while organizations need to #plan their transition to avoid being caught off guard when current encryption solutions become obsolete. ❌ Gerome Billois, Pierre Blay, and Johann Plüss guide you through this decisive moment in the transition to post-quantum. They propose initial concrete actions and deadlines to start preparing for the transition. The journey to a new era of encryption must be prepared starting today! 🚀 #cybersecurity #encryption #privacy #confidentiality
