🌍 Breaking down barriers in global health research: A recent study sheds light on the ethical challenges faced by international teams working on violence against women (#VAW). With collaboration across high-income countries (#HICs) and low-and middle-income countries (#LMICs), the study uncovers power imbalances and the need for a unified ethical approach. Key findings include: • Power and resource imbalances between HICs and LMICs • Diverse understandings of VAW and participant vulnerability • Lengthy and complex ethics approval processes affecting research timelines The study calls for: • Equal power distribution and resource sharing • Better coordination between research ethics committees and health authorities • Enhanced ethics training focused on VAW research Read more at https://lnkd.in/eD_pURkA

Our partner, Future Needs represented by Thanos Arvanitidis, participated in a workshop on Research Ethics and Medical Technology, organized by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Institute of Technology in Thessaloniki. "Since Future Needs is involved in the ethics assessment and promoting awareness of ELSI principles in the AI4LUNGS project, it’s important to engage in these discussions and deepen our understanding of the ethical considerations essential for research in this rapidly evolving field," said Thanos. The workshop, led by Dr. Alexander Bagattini and Rahel Sophie Martjan, covered the following topics: ▪ Research ethics: recognizing and avoiding scientific misconduct. ▪ The ethos of science, intellectual property, fraud, and authorship. ▪ Complex ethical considerations at the intersection of healthcare and technology. #digitalhealth #ethics
