LMCs can be a real power for good for general practice.
Really good chat with Kimberley Hackett this morning from GPOnline magazine about our work supporting LMCs across the UK. Crucial ahead of potential industrial action.

As the countdown to year end gets underway, the latest market figures from SMMT paint a mixed picture. While electric car registrations grew for an eleventh straight month making up a mandate-beating quarter of the market, the overall market contracted for the third time in four months. Even as the industry races to meet targets, investing eye-watering sums to do so, there remains a shortfall across the year, with the latest industry outlook expecting zero emission vehicles to represent just 18.7% of the market in 2024. Read my Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) Update looking at why the government’s pledge to fast-track a review of the market, regulation and support, is welcomed by industry. https://lnkd.in/gzmGqcUp

What’s the latest on ILSAC GF-7❓ Want to understand why ILSAC GF-7 is needed? What it is designed to do? What the key changes are vs. ILSAC GF-6? Emissions and fuel economy regulations are driving changes to passenger car hardware system design and engine operating conditions. All these changes rely on the ability of engine oils to deliver sufficient engine and aftertreatment protection and prevent operational issues, while also contributing towards improving fuel economy. This creates new lubricant performance challenges, and ILSAC GF-7 sets the standards to meet them. Learn about the increased performance needs introduced with ILSAC GF-7 including LSPI protection, cleanliness and wear. 🚘 Infineum is ILSAC GF-7 ready in our mainline and top-tier product portfolios. 🚘 Talk to us about our existing technologies, their current capabilities and how we can address your coverage needs. 👉Read our latest ILSAC GF-7 article https://lnkd.in/dva_QV3S

CECRA present at CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers ‘ #aftermarket conference in the panel discussion about « Technical evolution ahead- How to maintain a level playing field for vehicle repairs » Mark Nicklas European Commission : ECJ (European Court of Justice) went quite far in it’s decision #Belron #ATU. The EC will discuss possible solutions in the coming weeks with all stakeholders including type approval authorities which could address some of the problems within the framework of #858Regulation. Security is important but shouldn’t be used as an excuse to restrict competition in the aftermarket. Jan-Willem van der Linden CECRA -BOVAG : the right to repair legislation exists but we need enforcement. There is a need for sector specific legislation (SSL) as not everything can be covered via the adaptation of the 858. Laurianne Krid Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Region I : ECJ gave clear signals and FiA was hoping such a decision but a step more is needed via a SSL. 100% security doesn’t exist and cars can be hacked. But OEMs have to respect a correct balance. Jeremy Smith Belron® : Full authorization process is not needed; this can be practically difficult in the workshops. Authentification is possible. #AMCON2024

Last week, I was attending another fruitful #GRSP meeting in the United Nations in Geneva. Several important regulatory proposals were adopted to which CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers has actively contributed: ✔ A proposal for a new UN Regulation on Safety-Belt Reminders. ✔ A proposal for a new UN Regulation on the Installation of safety belts, restraint systems, child restraint systems, ISOFIX child restraint systems and i-Size child restraint systems. ✔ A proposal for the 10 series of Amendments to UN Regulation 16 which will from now include only requirements for components type-approval. 👉 This is the result of splitting UN Regulation 16 into 3 UN Regulations separating components, installation and SBR requirements. ⚡ An amendment proposal to extend the scope of the UN Regulation 100 to vehicles of O categories with batteries which are charged by the vehicle’s e-axles. This is an important step forward to approve technical solutions developed by the suppliers to reduce CO2 emissions (e.g. battery systems supplying cooling units on trailers). 📃 The Terms of Reference for the Informal Working Group regarding the safety of Children Left in Vehicles (IWG CLIV) were endorsed. 💡 The ECE Road Safety Action Plan 2023-2030 that will contribute to achieving the global road safety target of a 50 percent reduction in road death and injuries was thoroughly discussed. GRSP had interesting exchanges with respect to the prospects for a #GTR on #CRS. Dinos Visvikis, Thomas Herpich, Ines Levallois, Thierry Mousel, Erik Salters, Marianne Le Claire, Kate Brown

Good morning Colleagues GNF is taking a back seat for today as of more concern is the fact that both CTCT and CTMPT are and have been devoid of vessels this week, with a few exceptions! This begs the questions : is this due to a slowdown in our economy or due to vessels bypassing the PoCT, thanks in no small part to the World Bank Report placing us at number 405 on list of worst performing ports? Having said that, EWC was in a 5½ engagement, as a member of the Western Cape PCC, with the NPCC on Wednesday to better understand the dynamics that TNPA is operating under. There are many issues at stake and the general consensus is that we are not all on the same page or have the same vision for our port system which, in a nutshell, to have a working sustainable port system coupled with working equipment. It is pointless doing feasibility studies for port expansion when the fundamentals are not working! This is where EWC comes into play, as an independent voice of industry and your continued support is vital to continue on this trajectory. Please note your membership renewal notices will be in your inbox shortly. Port Stats for week 24 – 30 June as follows: CTCT : 16037 TEU handled target 14054 : 14 GCH 32 SWH 8.7 hours wind delay; 70% day shift 30% night shift, 27% Stack occupancy 223 rail moves CTMPT : 707 TEU handled target 1112 12 GCH 12 SWH 5% stack occupancy 381 Truck gate moves TTAT 20 min FPT: 57% berth occupancy : 6 vessels handled : 3 Multi Cargo 1 container 1 Dry Bulk 1 B/B : 803 TEU, 442.4 General Cargo B/B; Fruit : 6641 pailets; 9424.68 MT Dry Bulk Equipment : CTCT : 8 STS cranes, 26 RTGs, 45 hauliers CTMPT : n/a Our next function is on Monday 29th July and as the last event of the current financial year, Executive Mayor Geordin Hill Lewis will be giving the keynote address – this is not to be missed! Have a great weekend – stay safe, stay strong, stay exporting!!!!
