It's the end of the year where everyone and their sibling has a wrap or a recap or a review or a roundup. Which is better – competition or collaboration? In competitive sport the answer might seem obvious, but is it? For example, even two cyclists on directly opposing teams will spend most of their time working together in a breakaway because collaborating is the better choice. The same is true in business. Competing often just means copying your competitors for the sake of feature parity.  Companies then produce products and features not because they truly believe in them, but because they feel they can’t have a "feature gap". Soon it’s just a race to the bottom with a market full of generic products that all look and feel the same as each other – no passion or purpose, just bland pursuit of market share.
