CLIMATE CHANGE FACETS: THE FOOD PRODUCTION DILEMMA What would be a "perfect" world (I.e., an ideal target)? The sadly factual scenario is that the main global food baskets, as well as the myriad micro production farm lands, have been impacted, to a certain degree, by #climatechange and many types of crops in various countries (not accounting for wars as in Ukraine and others mainly in Africa) have dwindled increasing the commodity buying competion and therefore higher prices and inflation... the #NewNormal or Norm The #Climatecrisis have already left various major farm land regions unproductive and the new dynamics of the up-trending #climate/ #weather patterns are only beginning to shift the costumary practices established over many decades The changes are manifold like drying or salinization of underground pumping water coupled with some land sinkings, widespread droughts or flooding, habitual seasonal delays, overusage of (depletion) or erosion of the soils , disapearance or debasement of pollinating insects , reduction of the availability or more expensive production insurance rate and other factors Still, under the current climate-inceasing-chaos, i.e. a move into a new set of climate patterns (= up gear in change momentum), world population growth and longer-aging (=further demand for food) Today more than a billion people are significantly mal-nurished and/or go to sleep hungry. Despite the perfect storm "crime scene", we still have a brief window of time to rapidly and dramatically act and/or modify our rooted overall climate-changing practices In the actual 2 or 3X climate change speed compared to previous long term, more moderate, data base, every quarter or year that we waste in politics, bureaucracies, lack of true leadership or courage-to-boldly-act, bisiness-as-usual-games, and alike, is a stiffer death scentence to a greater portion of our civilization In the current circunstances, speaking of 2030+, 2050 or even 2100 (!) targets is a "Russian Roulette" gamble or joke. We no longer have the luxury of these time frames; known (an unkown) Tipping Points are already breathing over our necks and triggering these "hot-spots" mean augumenting the natural unbalance speed of change and our society getting into a tightening "rats wheel race" We have been holding (playing with) to the greater challenge to the long-term existence of our civilization with our fingernails The choice is ours and the result, if poorly / weakly handled as it has been, our future will have a science fiction dire historic consequence like previous civilizations as the all powerful and wise Sumeria, Ur, Babylon, Egypt etc We are not much different from them but, to our advantage, we have the benefit of lightspeed technological development and scientific understanding, which bless us with an opportunity window, which sure is closing ever faster https://lnkd.in/dPTmAipB

Tomorrow will be my 21st July 4th in the US (and next month I will have been here for 22 years 😱 ). It is kind of a weird holiday for us 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Brits to celebrate (partially because I don't actually think they even taught us this part of history in school!) Here are 4 things that culture shocked me when I moved here, and still do 22 years later... 1) Cheese 🧀 WTF - why is ALL the cheese pasturized? Heck, there's even yellow things parading as cheese that by definition are NOT cheese. 😲 #Kraft #Velveeta 2) Healthcare 💊 This was such a shock to my system as I did not have health insurance when I moved here. It was so foreign to have to pay to go to the doctor Fast forward 22 years and 2 autoimmune diseases #NuffSaid (oh and my insurance pays $17 of the $200 thyroid medication I need to stay alive 😡 ). 3) Bread 🍞 With the exception of one of the loaves at La Farm Bakery and a couple of items at ALDI USA, bread tastes wrong. Too much sugar. 4) Nobody understood English! 🇬🇧 As a child of the 80's (with an American mother), I grew up consuming american pop culture (Friends, The Simpsons etc). I understood American perfectly. When I moved here, nobody could understand me! (10 years later I somehow lost my accent when talking to Americans, not on purpose but I think subconsciously I got tired of having to explain or repeat myself!
