The CIMAC working groups, especially WG7 focused on fuels, are a great source of information during this period of rapid change in engine and fuel technology. There is a lot happening and much to learn. Their latest statement addresses the VLSFO fuel issues last year in the US Gulf Coast. https://lnkd.in/gYqpMxSC

According to American Gas Association (AGA) President, Karen Harbert, “This industry will continue to implement inclusive solutions to … reduce emissions for our customers and communities." The National Carbon Monoxide Awareness Association (NCOAA) encourages AGA’s willingness to lower emissions and invites the AGA and other key players in the industry to join us on the CO Safety Coalition. It is our mission to eliminate fatalities and injuries tied to carbon monoxide poisoning, and the CO Safety Coalition brings subject matter experts together to implement simple, common-sense solutions to prevent CO poisoning. The global climate crisis demands that States act and that they leverage the unique powers of governments to direct fiscal and monetary policy: pensions should be saving for our future, not funding our demise
Today, EJF published a report focusing on Taiwan's four public funds that still investing heavily in fossil fuels with no clear information about climate risks or plans to divest from them. Taiwan has committed to reaching net zero by 2050 but at the same time, its public funds continue pouring money into fossil fuel. This is not only setting back its net zero target but also neglecting its responsibility to safeguard the Taiwanese people's future. EJF is calling for the government to divest its funds from fossil fuels. The first step should be to increase the transparency of the funds' portfolio and conduct regular and accurate climate risk assessments. Wider stakeholders and public have the rights and needs to know the climate risks that could seriously harm their investment. Full report in Chinese: https://lnkd.in/enrazsmK

And you worry about $5 gl of gas? Explore this and let me know! There are Chinese companies involved in operations related to the Panama Canal. Notably: 1. China COSCO Shipping Corporation: This state-owned enterprise is one of the world's largest shipping companies and frequently uses the Panama Canal for its operations. Its vessels are some of the most significant users of the canal. 2. China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC): A subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), CHEC has been involved in infrastructure projects in Panama, including port construction near the canal. 3. Hutchison Ports: A subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Holdings, this company operates ports at both ends of the Panama Canal, including the Balboa and Cristobal terminals. While not directly managing the canal, its operations are strategically significant. These companies reflect China's broader interest in global trade routes and strategic infrastructure investments. Help CALSSA Fight for California’s Clean Energy Future! California is at a critical crossroads in the clean energy movement. The California Solar & Storage Association (CALSSA) is on the front lines fighting to accelerate rooftop solar and battery storage adoption — pushing back against utility-driven policies that threaten progress and slow down the state’s clean energy goals. 🚨 The Challenge: Utilities are advancing agendas that limit rooftop solar growth, raise energy costs, and stifle innovation. CALSSA is battling these efforts through policy advocacy, legislative action, and grassroots mobilization. Why Support CALSSA? ⚡ Policy Defense: We’re fighting for pro-solar policies like NEM 3.0 reforms, pushing back against utility-backed regulations that harm clean energy expansion. 🌞 Energy Freedom: Rooftop solar means more energy independence, cleaner air, and lower energy bills — benefits utilities want to control. 💥 Your Impact: Donations power lobbying efforts, public campaigns, and legal challenges to secure California’s clean energy future. How You Can Help: 💰 Donate Today: Your support strengthens our legal and advocacy campaigns. 📣 Raise Your Voice: Spread the word to grow our movement. 🤝 Join the Cause: Partner with CALSSA to amplify our impact. Together, we can outshine outdated utility models and power California's future with solar and storage! https://lnkd.in/gUyjGWBM #SolarFreedom #EnergyIndependence #CALSSA #CleanEnergyWarriors #SaveSolar #ClimateAction #UtilityReform #SolarAdvocacy #BatteryStorage #CaliforniaRenewables #GreenFuture #FightForSolar #SolarM&A

Take a look at the work of our partner, The [Chancery Lane] Project (TCLP). TCLP is a collaborative initiative of international legal and industry professionals whose vision is a world where every contract enables solutions to climate change. Much of private sector activity – professional services, procurement, supply chain management – is governed by contracts. This translates to trillions of dollars in transactions globally every year. Contracts present a mechanism for companies to take action on their climate commitments but as yet, are an untapped resource in climate action. Our funding is supporting TCLP to grow and develop strategy to support decarbonisation of the investment sector where it can have a transformative impact: downstream emissions. NOT JUST MIT! “Records show that after Shell donated $25m in 2022 to LSU to create the Institute for Energy Innovation, the university gave the fossil fuel corporation license to influence research and coursework for the university’s new concentration in carbon capture, use and storage. Afterward, LSU’s fundraising entity, the LSU Foundation, used this partnership as a model to shop around to members of the Louisiana Chemical Association, such as ExxonMobil, Air Products and CF Industries, which have proposed carbon capture projects in Louisiana. For $2m, Exxon became the institute’s first “strategic partner-level donor”, a position that came with robust review of academic study output and with the ability to focus research activities. Another eight companies have discussed similar deals with LSU, according to a partnership update that LSU sent to Shell last summer. Some students, academics and experts said such relationships raise questions about academic freedom and public trust.” 🤔 You think? #cfindustries #shell #exxonmobil #LSU #greenwashing

Do the UK public know their EPCs as well as their ABCs? In March the Department of Energy released its latest data on the public’s awareness and understanding of climate change issues, green heating, and low-carbon choices. Nesta has delved into the data for a temperature check on the public’s awareness of the transition to green heating and whether there are signs of change. From growing awareness of heat pumps to a better understanding of EPC ratings, these are their five key findings:
