In today's podcast I explain the pros and cons of both low and high rep training AND provide an answer for what rep range actually is best!!!

Good morning! It’s the little gestures of kindness that are contagious. And pretty soon everyone around is getting in on the act. Great way to start the day! At DisruptED we recorded our first podcast in our new series: Ordinary Humans, Extraordinary Impact As the DisruptED community has grown, many of you have shared the same feedback. You started following our podcasts on education, but then checked out our podcasts on technology and advanced manufacturing. The reason: captivating stories from interesting guests. For example: Jane Poynter from Space Perspective who has re-imagined space travel with a space balloon. Kevin Czinger and Lukas Czinger are creating a digital manufacturing future that will transform how we make everything in the future. Vicki Greene shared the story of how her team at GED Testing Service is transforming the way adult learners succeed. 3 of our guests, Terry Bean, Dr. Chaz Austin, Ed.D. (He/Him) and Nicola Morgan have done TEDX talks. This new series gives us a wider aperture to share stories from seemingly ordinary humans, folks you might encounter operating under the radar. They are passionate and purpose-driven, and their efforts are creating extraordinary impact.

Thank you, Matthew Dickinson! I must say... this was the most difficult Podcast for William Billotte and me to do. As Podcasters, We take our role very seriously and sometimes it's difficult to responsibly talk about difficult topics in a neutral, but educational and professional manner. This was one of my favorites though as I LOVE talking about terminology. As you can see, a lot of research and facts went into the recording of this episode! #podcastresposibly

And on the Nora and Bill show... TERMINOLOGY. A discussion by experts in multiple SDO bodies. As you recall a couple of weeks ago, I posted some definitions provided by ISOO, regarding terminology/defining terms that are to be used by the market/professional environment. Some of my thoughts and comments, are actually highlighted in this very thought-provoking podcast. 😯 The ISOO definition for robot/robotics makes it hard to make a case to use "wearable robotics" as a term that would accurately apply to the world of #exoskeletons #exotech. Including the medical devices. A HARD sell. An outdated sell. Maybe in its day it had place and time. But with the proliferation of passive exos and the fact that an exoskeleton HAS TO HAVE a user in the loop (aka dependent on the wearer... exos can't just pick themselves up and put themselves in the closet. Nor can they just initiate themselves...) it makes a STRONG case for eliminating "wearable robotics/robots" from being intermingled with exoskeletons. Time for that ASTM F48 drawing board! 😱 The ISO rules and definition for terminology are very clear, and applicable to SDO's across the board and across the globe. We are not trying to define exoskeletons for grannie and grandpy. WHO the definition is for, matters. (see below) 😉 RELEVANCE! In our minds, we are all experts - and we actually are in something. But in what? Does your career in industry or in government count? If you aren't immersed in that world (are you currently employed in the environment? Consulting?). Your "former" life brings experience. Your current life adds value to the discussion. We all become stale when we remove ourselves from the environment. And the farther removed from the environment, the more stale your knowledge becomes. That will impact your participation in defining terminology - terminology has to be relevant, and have international and discipline relevance. (Some people question my relevance and resent some of the war stories. They forget I'm still a DoD consultant and deeply invested in the politics of science...). Opinions will matter. But that is also a matter of opinion. As Andy Kireta says "all voices MATTER" - make yours count. 👉🏻 CONTEXT matters… (Nora Nimmerichter - butterfly is also a yoga pose!!!! 😛) ASTM Exo Technology Center of Excellence there is a commitment to the F48 committees. If you want to influence terminology you have to work with the SDO's. ASTM is a good place to start. #exosuits #exosforall #biomechanics #sdo #wearables Amir Jafari Jane Lippolis Kevin Purcell Victoria Budico Charles-Etienne Caron
