Here are the traits that - in my experience - create winners:
Consistency: This trait is crucial. Many people can be good, if not great, most of the time, but they fall off at some point. Winners show up every day and give the exact same effort, no matter how they’re feeling.
Follow through on commitments: This is a true measure of reliability and reputation. Words matter, especially when it comes to goal setting. Fight for your goals to the last possible second. Even if your goal seems out of reach, staying true to your commitment puts you in the best possible position.
Creativity: Do what it takes! I often had to improvise to get in front of customers. The throwback picture below is a testament to that. Dr. Creg Carpenter, now a great friend and one of the best joint replacement surgeons in the country, is an endurance athlete. I began my endurance racing journey partly to create common ground with Dr. Carpenter so we could train together.
