🌟Team Impact got together last week for a day of strategy and planning, followed by an evening of celebration🌟 What were we celebrating you ask!? Ourselves! Now we know that might sound a little ego centric, but we shared with you all recently that we made a promise to ourselves when we founded Impact that we wouldn't miss the moments on this epic journey of new business and that we would make sure that we regularly stop, reflect and celebrate. We are well into our Impact journey now and we feel privileged every single day that we get to do what we love – support our sector and bring brilliant people into important roles. Rosheen Singh Nadia Pachon and Chloé Barton work with awesome clients, great candidates and get joy from our jobs every single day....so what’s not to celebrate!? ✨ 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧, 2024! ✨ As we near the end of 2024, I’ve been reflecting on everything this year has brought – moments of growth, incredible achievements, and so many valuable learnings. What really stands out to me is how important it is to pause, truly unwind, and feel grateful – for the people who’ve touched my journey, the milestones we’ve reached, and the lessons we’ve learned along the way. 📍 My biggest takeaways? Here they are: 1️⃣ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲. This year taught me the power of evolving our #culture. We’ve fostered #collaboration, #trust, and #resilience, leading with #transparency, #empowerment, and #accountability. Feedback has been embraced as a gift, and it’s been incredible to see how far we’ve come—not just in hitting ambitious targets, but in growing together as a team. 🌱 2️⃣ 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀. My personal highlight? Bringing my Middle and Eastern Europe teams together in person—laughing, sharing ideas, and strengthening bonds. In the grand scheme of the world’s challenges and our daily struggles. This year humbled me and reminded me to feel grateful – for the opportunities I have, the incredible team I’m part of, and the privilege of working for the best company with just three letters. 🙏 4️⃣ 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿. In a world facing immense political and environmental challenges, our role as communicators and marketers is critical. So, you’re a millennial manager, and you’ve found yourself at the helm of a team filled with Gen Z talent. Managing them can feel like navigating a TikTok dance challenge—slightly chaotic but rewarding when you get it right! Here’s how to keep the rhythm without stepping on toes: 1. Be the Mentor They Crave: Gen Z is all about growth and development. They thrive on feedback, so channel your inner Yoda and guide them with wisdom (and maybe a touch of humor). Regular check-ins and constructive feedback will keep them motivated and engaged. 2. Foster a Collaborative Culture: Ditch the top-down hierarchy! Encourage open communication and collaboration. Organize brainstorming sessions where everyone can contribute. Remember, this generation loves working as a team—so why not make it fun and interactive. 3. Leverage Technology: As a millennial, you’re tech-savvy, but don’t underestimate Gen Z’s proficiency! Use tools that facilitate collaboration and streamline processes. 4. Flexibility is the New Black: These digital natives treat work-life balance like their morning latte—essential! More than we millennials do! Giving them flexible hours especially in a manufacturing industry or remote work options could be tricky, but tactfully be understanding and you’ll be the coolest manager in the galaxy. From my experience , happy employees always result in more productivity. 5. Authenticity: The Secret Sauce: Gen Z values authenticity more than anything. Share your journey, quirks, and all! This builds trust and encourages them to bring their genuine selves to work, which is where the real magic happens. In a nutshell, managing Gen Z is about being their mentor, embracing flexibility, fostering collaboration, leveraging technology, and being your authentic self. Let's start to share some good news stories! 🎉✨ 💼 While I’ve been on the market looking for work, a number of incredible things have happened. While none of them are paying the bills 💸, I KNOW that when I look back on this time, I’ll be grateful for these: 👩💼 We’ve welcomed two amazing new leaders, Hannah & Caroline, into The Female Product Lead 🚀, and our vision is now crystal clear: Equity in Product Leadership 🔥 🤝 We've increased the volunteers in FPL significantly and are breathing new life into our onboarding process, event schedule for 2025 📅, and brainstorming how to achieve our vision: levelling the playing field ⚖️, dismantling gender biases 🛑, and empowering women to grow in their Product roles 📈. 🌐 I've made so many great new connections and locked arms with fantastic product leaders looking for their next role 🤗—couldn’t be more grateful for that network and support 🙌. 👩💼 I've had the opportunity to step into great consulting roles and lead teams 🧑🏫 on decision-making 💡 and strategic planning 📊—and WOW, has this increased my confidence 🚀. 💖 I’ve had my cup filled time after time by amazing people who’ve reached out to support, offer introductions, or just to chat 💬—reminding me how much good there is in our product and tech communities 🌍. But as we step into the holiday season, I realize that this isn’t just about the work—it’s about the people we’re empowering along the way.
