The importance of nuclear power continues to be highlighted as the Parliamentary Inquiry heads across Australia to hear from stakeholders and communities. Minerals Council CEO Tania Constable spoke to the Inquiry about the need to consider nuclear power as part of a balanced energy mix, so that Australia can achieve our clean energy goals and Australian families and businesses can enjoy cheap, clean, reliable electricity for the future.

The release of the Opposition’s nuclear costings and future energy mix raises questions on the role of the market in an energy system with significant volumes of government-owned nuclear plants, the peak body for energy retailers and generators, the Australian Energy Council said. The Australian Energy Council’s Chief Executive Louisa Kinnear said, “We are particularly concerned about the assumed lack of investment in new and replacement generation over the next ten years." Bloomberg News 4M followers - 4/29/24 A month after the US offered $1.5 billion to restart one shuttered nuclear power plant, there’s a growing sense among officials in the industry and government that it may not be the last...... More than a dozen US reactors shut down in recent years because they were too costly to operate, struggling to compete against renewable power and plants that burn cheap natural gas......True estimates there may be only five reactors suitable for resurrection. He declined to name them. #nuclearpower #nuclearenergy #energytransition #energypolicy #renewableenergy

Coal-fired power plants, combined cycle gas-fired power plants, nuclear plants... they all feature steam turbines. Here's a great look at how this workhorse technology is being applied to help with North America's energy transition. https://lnkd.in/eAVX83Zh

Clear and courageous leadership Nuclear must be a significant part of Australia’s energy mix This is a vision for the next 100 years Labor and the greens coalition think 100% of our energy can come from solar and wind The amount of agricultural land required ,and the destroyed off shore marine habitats needed ,is pure environmental vandalism But more importantly, this experiment has never been done anywhere in the world and is not being proposed to be done anywhere in the world because it’s simply doesn’t work This winter there has been a wind drought in Australia again and there isn’t a lot of winter sun out there is there When the wind doesn’t blow in the sun doesn’t shine No energy Solar and wind are both unreliable and intermittent, that’s why it’s so damn expensive and it’s going to get even more expensive unless this nonsense is stopped Nuclear is the answer. We just need to realise it and get to building it now for our great grandchildren’s futures

Nuclear energy has proven to get electricity prices and emissions down all over the world. As we transition away from fossil fuels, Labor’s renewables-only approach means Australia risks a massive energy black hole and extraordinary costs. Next-generation zero emissions nuclear energy is part of the answer to our energy challenges. Australians deserve access to cheaper, cleaner and consistent electricity and our plan will deliver that.

Nuclear energy, both in operation and under construction, seemingly divides our globe into two parts. This division may pose a strategic question for the countries in the south hemisphere regarding their future development and energy sovereignty. PTEM considers this question as a starting point for determining the balance of power and the objectives of the future.

Should build nuclear in Australia surely depends on whether it can be done: safely, securely, within safeguards, by positively decarbonizing the economy, by displacing the combustion of coal, gas, biogas, and waste, to produce electricity and heat, by providing stable, long term energy security, and does all this affordably? https://lnkd.in/g2CXtQnx

I applaud his tenacious, approach to wanting to see his /our country prosper and keep up with the rest of the developed world. I ask my fellow Aussies to take an open-minded approach to the advances in nuclear energy generation, control and waste management systems, We mine and sell Uranium, Don't shut the conversation down before it gets started and see through the negativity. because this is a conversation we should have been having 35 years ago. Labor will do everything they can to shut this down because they know it is the right way forward and they didn't see the matter coming. and when have the Labor party ever put Costings before concepts. Big Tech's Embracing Nuclear June 19, 2024 A new kind of nuclear power is about to transform the grid. The U.S. Department of State calls it "an important part of our energy future." Believe it or not, but this kind of nuclear energy already existed years ago. What you don't see is called a small modular reactor, or SMR. A total of 17 of these prototypes were built in the U.S. And now that this technology has been perfected, these reactors are ready to take over the energy sector. The first SMR is expected to come online on U.S. soil this year. And that’s only the beginning.
