[Singapore Customs and GACC sign EODES RCEP MOU, 11 Nov 2024] At the 20th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC), Singapore Customs and the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand the Electronic Origin Data Exchange System (EODES) to include Preferential Certificates of Origin (PCOs) under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement. Since its establishment in 2019, EODES has streamlined trade between Singapore and China by enabling the electronic submission of PCOs and Certificates of Non-Manipulation under the China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (CSFTA) and the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA). This system ensures document authenticity, reduces manual processing, and saves time and costs for businesses. With this MOU, Singapore and China will extend these benefits to RCEP PCOs. Businesses can expect faster transmissions, enhanced authenticity, and greater convenience when trading within the RCEP framework. This collaboration underscores both countries’ commitment to fostering seamless trade and strengthening economic ties. A significant step forward in supporting businesses and promoting regional trade under the RCEP! #SingaporeCustoms #TradeAgreement #EODES #RCEP Photo Credit: Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI)
