💥 It's about EACH Individual. 💥 I got a call to help a person who lives 5 hours away. They were diagnosed with a condition where UofL Health is leading the research and care in treating. The patient didn't know where to start. It was an honor to help this one patient. Much of my time focuses on system processes and developing new provider services. It can be easy to forget about purpose- care for each patient, one at a time. Healthcare has many complexities and challenges, but we can't lose sight of the fact that every individual has unique needs, fears, and hopes. It's our duty and privilege to provide them with compassionate, personalized care that honors their humanity. If you are a leader in healthcare, YOU KNOW the profound impact you can have on someone's life by treating them not just as a condition but as a whole person. Whether holding a hand, lending a listening ear, or going the extra mile to ensure comfort and healing, we strive to make a difference, one patient at a time. Remember, If a bald, (slightly) crazy COO can attempt to make an impact by leading with compassion and a laser focus on every patient, I can only imagine what you can do! Keep impacting the world!

🧐 When it comes to writing your health condition copy, you might be missing one of your biggest sources of content. How often do you ask patients and families after they received care what they wish they had known? Especially when it comes to serious conditions, at some point we all have to dig deep to become armchair experts for ourselves or our loved ones. Does your copy answer... ✍️ What it's really like to get a procedure or refuse treatment? ✍️ What to expect during recovery ✍️ What are typical and rare side effects of a therapy? Your copy doesn't just exist so people can find and choose your health system. Done well, it can be a part of patients' care journey. So many hospitals have patient and family advisory councils (PFAC). Consider asking them about your copy. You'll no doubt learn something. H/t to Sara McKinniss for inspiring this post.
