Pleased to have contributed my thoughts to EnergyNewsBulletin on the many layers of building a brighter EV future for Australia. As we continue the push towards net-zero by 2050, the role of electric vehicles (EVs) is critical, but achieving widespread adoption requires a multi-faceted approach. The appetite amongst Australians for change is growing, as shown by the rise in hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicle sales, but there is still significant work to do. From embracing lessons from global markets to improving EV charging infrastructure in remote areas, the road to broader adoption is clear: patience, perseverance, and collaboration will be key to accelerating Australia’s electrification journey. The energy sector has never been more important, and I look forward to continuing the conversation on how we can shape a sustainable and innovative future.

👋 Say hello to Europe’s first public transport ‘Energy Bank’ ⚡ It’s a first in #Rotterdam. And apparently Europe. The Dutch city’s transport manager RET has launched what is thought to be the first public transit Energy Bank, known in Dutch as the #OVEnergiebank. 🚆 🇳🇱 The massive battery was developed in just under 22 months to capture unused power for #trams and return it to the network at a later time. This innovative solution enables ultrafast charging in less than 4 minutes at terminals and under 20 seconds at stops, ensuring continuous service and high efficiency without operational disruptions. The system integrates intelligent pantograph and rooftop battery configurations, allowing for a maximum capacity of 1,500 passengers per hour per direction while optimizing passenger space.
