Worked examples, especially completion problems, work in tandem with the introduction of students to the DP internal and external assessment. Basically, you can break the task into steps and provide students with written and oral scaffolds (hints) along the way. Follow-up feedback is vital based on the criteria. They can write the questions themselves and then respond to them. That way, such tasks involves critical thinking and metacognition. In these samples, the DP students at MySchool International have gone through a step by step introduction to Paper 2, using flash cards from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This has culminated in the follow-up feedback by the teacher and will be referred to as spaced retrieval in later simulations of the task, to give students a chance to accommodate the feedback. This will be recorded in their portfolios. #ib #diplomaprogramme #dp #education #assessment #exams #internationalbaccalaureate #learning #feedback #success

In today’s Cedefop’s event 'The shift to #learningoutcomes; Rhetoric or reality?', more than 150 participants from around the world have joined and contributed to interactive group discussions around the impact of learning outcomes. The first group discussion focused on the impact of #learningoutcomes on school-based #curricula and #teaching practices, highlighting the following key messages: ✔ Learning outcomes have become a key concept for the (re)design of #qualifications and #curricula at a macro policy level across countries. ✔ In practice, more in-school #support and #guidance is needed. ✔Important to focus on both curriculum #alignment and #coherence. ✔Talking about learning outcomes requires paying attention to the process of #learning itself. ✔Learning outcomes promote learner #autonomy, #awareness of the learning process and #assessment. ✔Learning outcomes shed light not only to #knowledge, but also to #skills and #attitudes. ✔Writting learning outcomes in an easily accessible #language and applying them in an #intentional way. ✔Link and mutual trust between the different education sectors and #validation for non-formal and #informal learning; a process of negotiation among #stakeholders. ✔Learning outcomes can support #microcredentials in terms of transparency and recognition; also for teacher #CPD. ✔More #research and a #tool on existing good practices and knowledge would be welcomed! #VETLearningOutcomes, #qualifications, #credentials, #lifelonglearning, #competence, #skills, #teacher, #learner, #teachereducation More information 👉 https://lnkd.in/e74Tia_R Anastasia Pouliou, Loukas Zahilas, Iraklis Pliakis, Zelda Azzarà, Maite Santos, Zeynep S.

My Thoughts for Today Having been involved in several teaching assignments, I can reaffirm that there is a very relevant message here on how we teach. Teaching to the problem focuses on understanding and solving real-world issues, which provide huge advantage over teaching to the tools: 1. Relevance and Application: By focusing on problems, students learn to apply knowledge in practical situations, making learning more relevant and engaging. 2. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: It encourages the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as students learn to analyze issues, think creatively, and find effective solutions. 3. Adaptability: Technology and tools constantly evolve. Teaching to the problem ensures that students develop an understanding of concepts and principles, making them adaptable to new tools and technologies. 4. Contextual Learning: Understanding the context of a problem helps students see the bigger picture and understand the interconnectedness of different concepts and fields. 5. Long-Term Retention: Solving real-world problems helps in better retention of knowledge. Students are more likely to remember and understand concepts when they see their practical application. 6. Empowerment: Students get empowered to become independent learners and thinkers, capable of tackling unfamiliar problems with confidence. Focusing on problems rather than tools ensures that learners are equipped with the skills and mindset to adapt and thrive in any situations, rather than just knowing how to use specific tools that may become obsolete. What are your thoughts on this? #ccpn #technology #education #whatinspiresme

Title - 2 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) are a crucial component of assessments, offering an objective and standardized method for evaluating students' knowledge across various subjects. They allow educators to cover a broad range of content efficiently, making them ideal for both formative and summative assessments. MCQs can assess different cognitive levels, from basic recall of facts to higher-order thinking skills such as analysis and application. Their versatility and efficiency make them suitable for large-scale testing and automated grading, providing quick feedback to students. However, while MCQs encourage comprehensive study, they can sometimes promote surface learning and guessing if not well-designed. To maximize their effectiveness, MCQs should be thoughtfully crafted to challenge students' critical thinking and should be used alongside other assessment types, such as essays and projects, to provide a well-rounded evaluation. By combining these methods, educators can create a balanced assessment approach that accurately reflects students' understanding and skills.
