As community members dedicated to supporting lost pets, it is crucial to recognize the limited availability of trapping volunteers. However, as a community member, you can play a vital role in assisting lost pet owners. By laying the necessary groundwork, you can ensure that when the time comes to deploy a trap, a trapper can efficiently capture the frightened pet and move on to the next pet in need. Trappers generously contribute their expertise, time, and efforts on a voluntary basis. They do not have the capacity to house stray pets whose owners are unknown. Nevertheless, by working together as a community, we can effectively support pets in distress. Join us to learn the fundamentals of trapping. You can contribute to expanding the knowledge and experience within our community. Together, we can build the next generation of skilled trappers.

Canine mobility conditions like arthritis, hip dysplasia, or general weakness, can make everyday activities harder for our best friends. That’s why it's so important to provide the support they need to stay active and comfortable. The Help 'Em Up Harness was created with these challenges in mind, offering a practical solution for lifting and supporting senior dogs in a way that’s gentle and effective. It’s more than just a tool—it's a way to give our dogs the freedom to move, play, and enjoy life with dignity, even as they face physical limitations. Check out this video from the founders of Help 'Em Up to learn more about how this harness is changing the lives of senior dogs and their families! 🙌🐾 #SeniorDogs #DogMobility #HelpEmUp #PetCare #SpecialNeedsPets #EmpoweringPets
During National Senior Pet Month, we're honoring Blue 🐾 and the history of our Help 'Em Up Harness, which grew from a prototype to a celebrated product, supporting over 500,000 pets since 2008! As Blue aged and faced health challenges, her family was determined to keep her close and comfortable. This journey led Help 'Em Up's founders, Cary and Lindsey Zimmerman, to create a harness that would offer both support and dignity to dogs like Blue. Today, our harness is still built with the same care and purpose as the very first one—providing the support you can count on when they need it most. 💛 Watch Cary and Lindsey share more about Blue and the heart behind Help 'Em Up's mission. 🎥 #HelpEmUp #NationalSeniorPetMonth #SeniorDogs #SeniorDogCare #MobilitySupport #PetHarness #AgingPets #PetHealth #DogMobility #SeniorDogSupport

As someone passionate about the connection between pets and people, I often reflect on the profound impact Humane Canada has had on how I think about animal welfare and its ties to human well-being. The concept of “One Health, One Welfare”—which underscores the intricate links between animal health, human well-being, and the environment—has deeply influenced my work and perspective. Humane Canada’s vision for a humane country is rooted in seven powerful keystones: ⚖️ Legal accountability for harm 🤝 Representation in decisions 🐾 Consideration as individuals ❤️ Social bonds recognized 🔄 Responsibility to change behavior 🔍 Evidence informs policy 🌟 Compassion as a core value These principles have shaped not only my perspective but also the work we do at Petcademy to strengthen the bonds between pets and their people. I’m excited to continue learning from Humane Canada and to share some of Petcademy's learnings as a speaker at the 2025 Summit for Animals in Montréal in April. If you’re in animal welfare or simply passionate about making a difference, I encourage you to attend the conference! Do you work at a shelter/humane society/SPCA or rescue? 🐰🐱🐭🐶 Then you'll like Petcademy's post-adoption support! Petcademy is one of our 2025 #SummitForAnimals exhibitors, and they partner with shelters and rescues to provide post-adoption, foster, and diversion support. Through text-based, positive reinforcement training and behaviour guidance, they reduce adoption returns, increase foster retention, and prevent surrenders. Petcademy helps pet parents confidently transition their pets into loving homes while saving your team valuable time. At FurMatcher, we believe every pet deserves a loving, permanent home. Sadly, 60% of adopted pets are returned within six months, and 20% are sent back to shelters. This heartbreaking cycle happens because the match wasn’t quite right. That’s where we come in. Our mission is to reduce pet abandonment and ensure that pets and families are perfectly matched for long-lasting happiness. By understanding your lifestyle, preferences, and needs, we help you find not just any pet, but the right one—ensuring a bond that lasts a lifetime. Join us in the noble cause of giving pets a forever home. Together, we can reduce shelter returns and create a brighter future for pets in need. 🐶🐱 #FurMatcher #ForeverHome #AdoptDontReturn #PetMatchmaking

Do you have a furry friend in the family? Research shows that having a positive relationship with a pet can be beneficial to our health. In children, assisting in the care of a pet increases their empathy for others. Pets can make us feel less stressed as well as give us a reason to get up and play or go outdoors. They can provide companionship and social support to adults and children. But be advised, pets are living beings who need attention, exercise, and certain living environments to thrive. If you are going to introduce a pet into your home, make sure you and your family have the tools and the time to train and care for an animal in your home. - #pets #benefitsofpetownership #stressrelief #childrenwithpets #petsandchildren #petcare #empathy #puppies #catsandogs #puppiesarentpresents #responsibility #humanepetcare
