This episode takes us on a journey, moving cattle from Dulthara Station to Hampstead Springs Station.

Go one mile past the highway, turn south and cross the first cattle guard, go another 1/2 mile to the second cattle guard……miles and cattle guards later turn east to head straight to the house with some more cattle guards. My clients have consistently asked how the contraction in #cattle supplies will impact pricing. While inventory of cattle and calves on January 1, 2024, was 2% below last year and lowest January 1 inventory since 1951. However, a deeper dive of cattle on feed January 1, 2024, was 11.9 million head, 2% above last year. Q4 on feed numbers outpaced last year, above expectations. Kicked the can down the road. Signals to the industry that there are enough animals to meet demand for the next 4-6 months.  #cattle #beef #analysis

Total live cattle open interest was at 299,443 contracts after Friday’s close. Live cattle open interest saw a weekly net increase of 11,763 contracts.
