Imagine a free global city in a major Latin America hub, such as Panama City, Caracas, Sao Paulo or Buenos Aires where people from Latin American countries could live, work, and move freely without the need for national visas or strict immigration controls. Is an ambitious ideal ut not impossible. This vision aligns with a broader rethinking of citizenship and mobility in an increasingly interconnected world, where people can move, work, and thrive regardless of their country of birth. 🙂
Please welcome a new emanation of my citizenship apartheid argument. It is a chapter for a volume Chris Kälin edited for Hart Publishing: https://lnkd.in/dHQWdxVf

“The Medieval Constitution of Liberty is ambitious and thought-provoking. It tackles, with erudition, one of the enduring puzzles of modern history—the origins of Western constitutions and norms of liberty. It also wisely rejects both theories that put the strength of the state and elites as the driving force and also those that see a special role for European culture. I recommend this fascinating book strongly.” —Daron Acemoglu, co-author of Power and Progress: Our Thousand-Year Struggle over Technology and Prosperity Available here: https://lnkd.in/e2P2N7wX

One of the developments taking place in Ursula K Leguin's fourth Earthsea Novel Tehanu is the reinstitution of justice and order by the new king, Lebannen, across the archipelago. It takes a good bit of work, conflict, and enforcement, as you can imagine https://lnkd.in/gkzwB4Xi
