In nonprofit organizations, it's quite common to see bylaws without term limits. While the dedication and loyalty of longstanding board members are commendable, allowing board members to stay on boards without term limits can allow for stagnation and entrenched ways of thinking. Implementing term limits in your bylaws, along with strategic board recruitment, can bring in new ideas, fresh perspectives, and new skills and experiences, ensuring your organization remains agile and adaptable. Check out Senior Living Visionaries episode 124 to explore the pros and cons of term limits at https://lnkd.in/gaJbqK4C or find us on your favorite podcast platform. #Nonprofit #TermLimits #BoardGovernance #seniorliving #jenniferdrago

Great to see Vantage Point covering the Accessible BC Act and future implications for the nonprofit sector. I’m so proud of our nonprofit clients like Food Banks BC and Open Door Group. They’ve acted on accessibility because it aligns with their values, but it’s also future proofing their organizations. Their staff, their services, and their relationships with people with disabilities are improving now, before any mandate requires it. For the rest of the sector: hey, standards are coming. Soon, there will be new expectations for the accessibility of your employment practices and your community services. What can you do to prepare? Help build the accessibility literacy of your teams now. Learn to apply an accessibility lens to your program and service model. Give your front line staff the skills to provide accessible customer service. Can you tell I think about this a lot? Yes! At Untapped Accessibility we’ve helped more than 120 organizations adapt to the requirements of the Accessible BC Act. Let us help you prepare for the new accessibility expectations coming your way.
In our latest episode of From Our Vantage Point, our Associate Executive Director, Maria Turnbull joins Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility's Christopher T. Sutton, MBA and Harbour West Consulting Inc.’s Shelagh Levangie (she/her) in conversation about the Accessible British Columbia Act. Together, our guests share some of the key milestones that led to the Act's development, key features of the new legislation relevant to BC non-profit organizations, and significant considerations for non-profit leaders to support alignment with the Act. Listen now: https://ow.ly/Ts3N50RgGWZ We also recorded this episode in video format to provide a more accessible option for those who benefit from lip-reading or more visual content!
