Don’t be ‘The Dr Pepper Guy’ Getting the train to work during rush hour can be stressful. We all know we shouldn’t hog 2 seats, or put our Dr Pepper on the table next to us. But many of us silently hope that we can hold that lovely, space and freedom next to us for as long as possible and the slightly anxious new arrival will keep walking on by… put off by our unconciously, unwelcoming energy😅 There’s a sense of ownership that comes with being there first isn’t there? Even when that space isn’t really ours to occupy. And it’s the same with team dynamics - there’s something about making space for new comers that doesn’t come naturally for everyone. And no matter how many trains I take to work, there will always be ‘The One’ who doesn’t move their bag or their Dr Pepper. Some people are away with the fairies - I get it, that’s usually me🧚 But some people are just being ‘The Dr Pepper Guy’- hard-faced and aware that they ‘should’ move their drink to make space for my backside, but don’t. Today I actually sat down at a Dr Pepper obstructed seat and ‘The Guy’ still didn’t move it - we’ve all met these ‘ones’. So I moved it for him: ‘here you go mate’…take your little red tin can of sugary, fizzy goodness from the 90s and pop it on that perfectly good tray infront of you. Cheers. Not everyone will be welcoming of you when you get there after them, but you should sit down anyway. What’s the worst that could happen? #drpepper #whatstheworstthatcouldhappen? #fizzydrinks #fizzypersonalities #90sthrowback #inclusion #makespace #teamdynamics #takeaseat #ignorance #mine #yours #ours

Building Connections Beyond the Office At Elve, we believe that innovation starts with strong connections—and what better way to build those than through our Team Days? Back in November, our team gathered at a park in Davis for a Thanksgiving potluck. Everyone brought their favorite dishes, played sports like soccer and volleyball, and took time to socialize while enjoying music and the beautiful outdoors. This is just one of the many fun activities we’ve shared together, including axe throwing, camping, painting, and more. Each Team Day brings new opportunities to bond, create memories, and strengthen the sense of collaboration that drives our work. Our Team Days aren’t just about having fun—they’re designed to foster the collaboration and creativity that drive our mission. Whether it’s structured activities or unplanned moments of connection, these gatherings remind us of the value of working together as a team. Here’s to the connections that fuel innovation, and to the incredible Elve People who make it all possible. 🌟 What’s your favorite way to build team connections? Let us know in the comments! #TeamCulture #InnovationAtWork #ElveTech #Thanksgiving #TeamBuilding

🚴♂️ Last week, I had the chance to spend a day with my wider department on an away day. Anticipation was high as I pedaled across the Peak District National Park, through breathtaking scenery. 🌄 Our work-away day was packed with engaging team-building exercises and fun activities, each offering unique opportunities to connect and collaborate: 1️⃣ Building and Firing a Trebuchet: A challenging task that reminded us of the engineering brilliance of the past. It required teamwork and problem-solving. Even though our team had limited success, it was a great icebreaker for the day. 2️⃣ Archery: Practicing with the longbow, a staple of medieval English military, helped us focus on precision and technique. 3️⃣ Falconry: A personal favorite! Interacting with majestic birds of prey, like the White Gyrfalcon and North American Kestrel, was both fascinating and enriching. 4️⃣ Duck Herding: This activity emphasised patience and calmness. It turns out herding ducks is easier than the metaphorical task of herding cats, which is more common in my work environment over the years. 5️⃣ Hovercraft Driving: Learning to control the hovercraft was a lesson in balance and steady control. 6️⃣ Human Table Football: While not my forte, the advice from Jamil Qureshi to focus on strengths rather than weaknesses resonated deeply, underscoring the importance of leveraging individual strengths within a team. The highlight for me was undoubtedly getting a chance to interact with colleagues I don’t usually get to connect with. It was a wonderful reminder of the value of team building and the benefits of fostering closer relationships within our team. Looking forward to the next adventure and more opportunities to grow and connect together! 🚀 #TeamBuilding #CompanyAwayDay #Networking #ProfessionalGrowth #Teamwork #PeakDistrict #CyclingAdventure #BBBLife

TLDR; insightful post on teamwork My 6 month old kitten, loves to do backflips while playing with her fishy wand toy. It's the coolest thing! When aimed just right, she can flip around about 3 feet in the air. But see, I didn't have to learn how to do a backflip to produce something amazing. I'd probably break a bone trying to accomplish this! Or at best it would take months of training. On the other hand, she won't do backflips on her own. She'll just look at her toy hoping it will come to life. It takes both of us to produce this feat (admittedly with minimal effort on my part). All I did was provide the opportunity for her to shine. Instead of increasing our own talents and seeking to be more impressive ourselves (ie, learning how to do backflips), it seems that if we ask "What talents and passions do the people around me possess?" we can vastly increase the amount of great things we create.

A Game of Carrom Today, after wrapping up a meeting, I saw something that caught my attention. Our office assistant, the one who quietly ensures everything runs smoothly – cleaning, serving coffee, taking care of the space – was watching my team play Carrom from a distance, smiling but staying back. Curious, I asked him, "Do you know how to play?" He replied, "I know how to, but I've never played before." "Would you like to join us?" I asked, and I saw hesitation in his eyes as he said, "No sir, it's okay." That moment hit me. Here was someone who did his job flawlessly every day, yet felt unsure about participating in a simple game during his free time. Why should he feel afraid or uncomfortable doing something fun? It was time to break that barrier. I invited him to join the game, and everyone was surprised – I had never played Carrom at the office before. But I knew this would set an example. If I, as the leader, played with him, it would open the door for others to see him differently, to include him in more than just his daily role. We played. And guess what? He won! This wasn’t just a game; it was a reminder that true leadership is about inclusion, breaking down invisible walls, and giving people the space to thrive in every aspect of their lives. #Leadership #InclusionMatters #TeamCulture #HumanConnection #LeadByExample #OfficeLife #RespectAtWork #HumilityInLeadership

We Work Hard, We Play Harder! 🏐 🤾♂️ I personally believe that #success isn't just built in the #office—it's built through the bonds we form outside of it. Last #Saturday, our team swapped laptops for #volleyballs and spent the day together in the sand, sharing laughs, competing, and #learning more about each other beyond our work roles. #Teambonding activities like these go beyond just #fun. They remind us that strong #relationships off the field translate into strong #teamwork on the job. When we understand each other better, we #collaborate more effectively, trust each other more deeply, and create a work environment that’s #positive and united. Every serve and spike on that volleyball court was a reflection of the commitment we bring to our projects, clients, and colleagues. At Greha Pravesh Real Estate LLC , we truly believe that team bonding is key to fostering an environment where everyone feels #connected, supported, and motivated. These moments of shared experience help us tackle #challenges with a unified front, reinforcing the importance of unity in achieving our goals. And as we head into another productive week, we're reminded that teamwork doesn’t just happen—it’s something we continually nurture, both in and outside the workplace. 💼✨ #gpre #teamgpre #realestate #dubairealestate #TeamBonding #WorkTogetherPlayTogether #CompanyCulture #StrongerTogether #GrehaPravesh
