🎉 Today, we presented the clinical outcomes of 100 cases using HOPE via ECMO in liver transplant grafts from patients at a Chilean public hospital at the ALEH Congress in Santiago, Chile. 🔬 This technique not only provides an efficient alternative for graft management but also offers the potential to reduce the costs associated with traditional perfusion machines. 📊 Our results are consistent with what has been reported in the literature, and we hope that sharing this work will help break down barriers for other countries like ours, which face financial constraints. 💡 Of the 100 grafts, 16 were extended criteria donors, showing good outcomes that align with clinical trials, but in our case, we used ECMO. 📝 This was an observational study, with all the limitations that come with it, but we are eager to move towards more robust research to further validate our findings. 👏 A special recognition to medical intern Francisca Martínez, who presented the work excellently. We continue to innovate and optimize resources in transplant medicine. A big thank you to the entire team for this achievement! #LiverTransplantation #Research #ECMO #HOPE #ALEH #HealthcareInnovation #Collaboration

Our Principal Clinical Scientist, Dr. John Connell, attended the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) 2024 Annual Meeting over the weekend to connect with and learn from global leaders in bone, mineral, and musculoskeletal research. His key takeaways included: 🔬 The session "Strategy to Advance Bone Mineral Density (BMD) as a Regulatory Endpoint (SABRE) for Clinical Trials" provided exciting updates to those involved in treatment development for bone disorders. Moderators Prof. Mary Bouxsein and Dr. Joy Tsai were joined by speakers Prof. Dennis Black and Dr. Theresa Kehoe, MD and shared how this promising initiative has the potential to significantly accelerate and reduce the cost of osteoporosis clinical trials by using BMD from DEXA scans as the primary clinical endpoint instead of relying on fracture outcomes. 🎓 The "Applying Osteoporosis Guidelines in Clinical Practice: Can We Reach Consensus?" session, moderated by Prof. Ben Leder and featuring esteemed speakers Prof. Robert Wermers, Dr. Andrea Singer, Prof. Clifford Rosen, and Dr. Michael McClung, discussed important clinical perspectives surrounding the current osteoporosis guidelines and how they could be improved. 🌎 Dr. Jotheeswaran Amuthavalli Thiyagarajan, an epidemiologist from the World Health Organization, emphasized the need for collaboration on the new WHO Global Report on Bone Health & Fracture, a topic we're excited to be part of thanks to our ESCEO and #PRECCO membership. Attending ASBMR, the largest conference of its kind, has provided our team with innumerable insights and will provide valuable input to our development processes. We look forward to seeing the progress around these important topics at next year's event! #ASBMR2024 #BoneHealth #Osteoporosis

We appreciate very much at CIBP this Italian research by Dr. Francesco Prattichizzo Ph.D & Co. recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine. This study holds our admiration not only for its findings but also for providing initial substantiated evidence, based on rigorous research, highlighting the convergence between human health and the environment. It is evident globally that our planet's oceans, rivers, and seas are increasingly contaminated with micro and nano plastics of various compositions. Medical convergence extends beyond intra-sectorial boundaries, such as cardiovascular and digital health, and more emphasis should be put in the interconnection and interdependence between human health and the environment in which we all live.
