- Position matters in pneumonia management 🛌 - Lie on the opposite side of the affected lung ↔️ - Example: for right lobar pneumonia, lie on the left side ⬅️ - This can aid in better breathing and lung drainage 💨

First Negative Pressure ventilator that applies pressure ONLY where it’s needed or wanted, the chestwall! First NPV designed to function as an extra set of respiratory musculature to perform work of breathing while learning the contour/shape of each patient’s chest wall, maintaining natural position of chest wall to avoid creating barrel chest during continuous/long term use.

Gas distribution tests are used to measure the absolute lung volumes during a breathing cycle. The primary types include: - Helium Dilution - Nitrogen Washout - Body Plethysmography Read our full guide to learn more about each type. ✔️ https://bit.ly/35RNnif

Does reconnection to the ventilator for 1 hour following a spontaneous breathing trial reduce reintubation rates? Read more in the June issue of the journal CHEST®: hubs.la/Q02CWC4Z0 #JournalCHEST #MedEd Interpretation: Significant alveolar derecruitment was observed at the end of an SBT and was markedly more pronounced with a T-piece than with PSV. Reconnection to the ventilator for 1 h allowed complete recovery of alveolar derecruitment.

Air Embolism An air embolism, also called a gas embolism, occurs when one or more air bubbles enter a vein or artery and block it. This is a potentially serious condition. When an air bubble enters a vein, it’s called a venous air embolism. When an air bubble enters an artery, it’s called an arterial air embolism. These air bubbles can travel to your brain, heart, or lungs and cause a heart attack, stroke, or respiratory failure. Air embolisms are rather rare. These actions can cause the air sacs in your lungs, called alveoli, to rupture. When the alveoli rupture, air may move to your arteries, resulting in an air embolism. An air embolism can sometimes occur if there’s trauma to your lung. For example, if your lung is compromised after an accident, you might be put on a breathing ventilator. This ventilator could force air into a damaged vein or artery #snscollegeofphysiotherapy #snsdesiginthinkers #snsdesignthinking #airembolism #snsinstitutions
