OK, so you are a horticulturist, she asks. She of the Gen-Z generation. What do you do? You work in the horticulture industry. What is horticulture anyway? I can give you the short or long definition I answer, the short version is: Horticulture is the science, technology, art and business of cultivating and using plants to improve human life. Horticulturists and Horticultural Scientists create global solutions for safe, sustainable, nutritious food and healthy, restorative and beautiful environments. and the long version you can get at https://lnkd.in/eyjtx7Tc Oh too many words then? This might help, see this two-minute video https://lnkd.in/eN9A25Hs Did that help, I ask. Her response, so you guys can save humanity. What more can I say! #horticulture

In horticulture, the challenges are increasing, particularly with regard to the hidden part of the plant, known as the #rootstock. This is especially relevant in trees where the grafting technique is used, as in most perennial fruit trees.” The plant roots book edited by Tom Beekman and Amram Eshel goes deep into this amazing and complex world.

One step closer to the 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 by developing soil microbiome with all-inclusive benefits! What am I doing? 👇 👉 I spray the lawn next to the road in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with a special organic fertilizer 𝐄𝐊𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋 that helps strengthen and develop the microbiome of the soil in a way that turns all dead organic matter (such as fallen leaves and withered grass on the ground) into humus and food for grass and trees. EKOVITAL significantly increases in organic matter content (by 60%) and the content of phosphorus and potassium also increses significantly by 57% in phosporus content and 47% in potassium content. This is real 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞! 💚 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧! EKOVITAL is a unique organic fertilizer with a special effect which properties are described in a scientific paper by univ. prof. PhD Mirjana Brmež, from Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek, Croatia. This is the result of the joint successful work of scientists, urban foresters and horticulturalists on the 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚. 💚 (Conclusion on the scientific work please find within the comment) #urbanforestry #arboriculture #horticulture #climatechange #sustainability #trees

🍃 "Turning Over a New Leaf in Horticulture Education" 🍃 Have you ever considered how the theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms intertwines with practical experience in the field of horticulture? Throughout my journey in Horticulture, I've encountered this fusion firsthand. What sets floriculture apart is not just the beauty of flowers, but how they reflect the latest trends in sustainable farming, urban landscaping, and ecological conservation. Here's what I've learned: Theory vs. Practice: While theory gives us the foundational knowledge, applying these concepts in real-world scenarios like landscape design or flower cultivation breathes life into our learning. Innovation in Action: Whether it’s the use of technology in greenhouse management or exploring eco-friendly pest control methods, the field is ripe with innovation. The question remains, how can educational institutions bridge the gap more effectively between theory and practice for budding horticulturists? I'd love to hear your thoughts or experiences on this! #Horticulture #Education #SustainableFarming #Innovation

Sampling Horticulture in Southern England ... Our Operators are hard at work in the fields across Europe and beyond. But closer to home, we recently measured the soil organic carbon stocks of a large horticultural company—The height of the specifically created beds wasn't an issue for our ATV. Soil is more than a growing medium; it’s one of the planet's most critical carbon sinks. In horticulture, soil health plays a pivotal role in productivity. To ensure it is there for the future, interest is growing in making these systems more sustainable. Through precise soil organic carbon measurement, we provide data that growers can use as evidence that they have taken actionable steps to remove carbon from the atmosphere and enhance soil resilience. 🌍 📌 Learn more about how we measure: https://lnkd.in/e2-SNcCA #horticulture #growing #soil #soilcarbon #soilhealth

FRONTIERS IN HORTICULTURE - FLORICULTURE AND LANDSCAPES SECTION The Floriculture and Landscapes section is dedicated to publishing research focused on advancing knowledge in floriculture, landscaping, and urban greening. Led by Dr. Antonio Ferrante from the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies and Dr. Francesco Ferrini from the University of Florence, the Floriculture and Landscapes section welcomes submissions in the various domains of productive, environmental and social horticulture, which connect theory and practice to enhance the field's understanding and application. Topics considered in the scope of this section include: arboriculture floriculture landscaping plant nursery urban forestry urban greening Submissions should provide detailed, in-depth knowledge about the interplay between floriculture, landscaping, and urban greening, aiming to contribute to the development of innovative approaches and solutions in these areas. In particular, the section welcomes submissions which support and advance Sustainable Development Goals 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 13 (Climate action) and 15 (Life on Land). This multidisciplinary section is at the forefront of disseminating and communicating cutting-edge scientific knowledge and impactful discoveries in the field of environmental horticulture to researchers, industry, policymakers, and the public worldwide.
