Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Eastern Africa ’s Post

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Eastern Africa reposted this

Chris Lockyear, Secretary-General of MSF, has urgently called attention to the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict in Sudan on women and children. Speaking from Nyala, South Darfur, he described one of the worst maternal and child health crises the world is witnessing today. In Nyala, 1 in 30 women are dying from pregnancy-related complications, and more than one-third of children screened by MSF are acutely malnourished. To respond to this crisis, we need: 1️⃣ Unrestricted humanitarian access to Sudan 2️⃣ Immediate scaling-up of maternal, sexual, and reproductive health services 3️⃣ Expanded emergency child nutrition programs 4️⃣ The return of full UN operational capacity to Darfur, especially Nyala Coordinated action and increased visibility of this crisis are essential to save lives. #TalkAboutSudan #HumanitarianAid #ChildNutrition #ReproductiveHealth #MSF
