😡 #Frustrated with the #Lack_of_Accessibility in #AI_Platforms like Perplexity 😡 I recently discovered that Perplexity, a platform that claims to offer knowledge and insights, is NOT accessible to people with disabilities. This is unacceptable! #Accessibility isn't a nice-to-have—it’s a basic right and a necessity for millions of people. When companies fail to prioritize accessibility, they are not just ignoring legal standards like the ADA or WCAG; they are ignoring the very people they claim to serve. Exclusionary practices hurt innovation. AI should be pushing the boundaries of inclusion, yet Perplexity seems to fall behind. We need platforms that enable everyone to participate in the digital age, especially those with disabilities who rely on these tools to access information. This is a call for change! It's time for companies to stop treating accessibility as an afterthought and start building inclusive experiences from day one. We can—and MUST—do better! #AccessibilityMatters #A11Y #InclusiveDesign #DigitalAccessibility #AIforEveryone #Perplexity #DoBetter #rant

  • Screenshot of the Perplexity AI homepage with a header that reads 'Where knowledge is not Accessible.' There are four buttons with questions such as 'Why is Perplexity no accessible?' and 'How difficult it is to make this page accessible?' The left sidebar includes options for Home, Discover, Library, and an upgrade to Pro. At the bottom left, a user profile with the name 'mpaiva' is displayed.

We should also consider that this is a company that was launched in 2022, no matter how fast it has grown. A young product concentrates its resources on other business choices to become what Perplexity is today. Of course accessibility is crucial, but do not forget that it's not the primary need that the product fulfils.

Marcelo Paiva thank you for calling this out! Just the addition of a few headings would be lovely, but there is so much else that could be done. Maybe we will get to do the work of making perplexity a delight when it comes to inclusive experiences.
