Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities—a day to reflect and advocate for equal access to information, technology, and opportunities for people with disabilities. Emerging technologies, especially AI, have the potential to be life-changing. From describing images to formatting documents for the blind, AI can help break down barriers and enhance digital accessibility. But this progress comes with responsibility. AI must be developed and used thoughtfully to ensure quality, equity, and inclusion for all. Let’s harness the power of technology to create a more accessible and inclusive world! #IDPD #Accessibility #Inclusion #AIForGood

😡 #Frustrated with the #Lack_of_Accessibility in #AI_Platforms like Perplexity 😡 I recently discovered that Perplexity, a platform that claims to offer knowledge and insights, is NOT accessible to people with disabilities. This is unacceptable! #Accessibility isn't a nice-to-have—it’s a basic right and a necessity for millions of people. When companies fail to prioritize accessibility, they are not just ignoring legal standards like the ADA or WCAG; they are ignoring the very people they claim to serve. Exclusionary practices hurt innovation. AI should be pushing the boundaries of inclusion, yet Perplexity seems to fall behind. We need platforms that enable everyone to participate in the digital age, especially those with disabilities who rely on these tools to access information. This is a call for change! It's time for companies to stop treating accessibility as an afterthought and start building inclusive experiences from day one. We can—and MUST—do better! #AccessibilityMatters #A11Y #InclusiveDesign #DigitalAccessibility #AIforEveryone #Perplexity #DoBetter #rant

Announcing the Equitable AI Alliance: Putting Disability on the Agenda📌 If AI products are not inclusive by design, persons with disabilities risk exclusion from and discrimination in day-to-day life activities, workplace, education, and other spheres of life. Accessibility, inbuilt prejudice and inclusive design have to be addressed in the first stages of development, not added on later. At the same time, AI also holds immense potential to benefit everyone, both as inclusive and dedicated tools for persons with disabilities. The Equitable AI Alliance is a new initiative supported by the Zero Project and The Seneca Trust to address these risks and opportunities: it places experts with direct experience of disability and technology at the heart of influential debates about opportunities and risks related to artificial intelligence. In line with the Zero Project’s mission of creating a world with zero barriers for persons with disabilities, the Alliance’s objective is to steer decision-making in critical developments that are poised to fundamentally change our society. 🌍 Discover the Advisory Board and learn more on the website: https://lnkd.in/dpfZ4n2S! 🔗 Be part of a global conversation on the future of disability-inclusive AI. We're entering an era where technology isn't just a tool, but an extension of our fundamental humanity. With AI and digital assistants becoming increasingly woven into our daily lives, we must ensure this integration enhances rather than diminishes human agency and dignity. This vision drives The Scott-Morgan Foundation's north star: ensuring that those most impacted by technology are active participants in its design. Meaningful innovation in accessibility must be created with, not for, the disability community – because when technology truly becomes an extension of ourselves, everyone's voice must be heard in shaping how it evolves. This is why I'm particularly excited to share news about Zero Project's Equitable AI Alliance, who I hope you'll follow. This initiative perfectly aligns with our foundation's mission to ensure that accessibility isn't an afterthought but rather a fundamental principle in AI development – especially as these technologies become more intimately connected to how we live, work, and express ourselves.
