Digitalization is a crucial aspect of transitioning to a more sustainable future. We are proud to announce that we are proposing and managing a new digitalization project. We are collaborating with CAISR (by Högskolan i Halmstad) and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden intending to leverage data-based digital twins to promote sustainability in commercial marine operations.   By combining the strengths of various stakeholders in the market, we can effectively work towards a more sustainable future. In addition to CAISR and RISE, we are partnering with Trafikverket, Quokka AB, Erik Thun Group, Stena Line, and Profjord AB. Academic Paper 📄 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬: 𝐚 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 ℹ This paper investigates the factors influencing innovation adoption in ports by conducting a systematic literature review and proposes a comprehensive framework for understanding the process of innovation adoption. The maritime sector is a typical example of a business-to-business market, whereas the information technology industry is an example of a business-to-consumer market. We show that factors for innovation adoption applicable to a business-to-consumer market are also relevant to a business-to-business market. The factors that were found relate to the adopting port’s characteristics and include know-how, organization support, organizational structure, financial capacity, a port’s network embeddedness, and risk-taking. Furthermore, they concern the characteristics of the innovation such as the costs, relative advantage, complexity, compatibility, trialability, and observability. ／🌊 Reflecting on Maritime Innovation Week 2024🌍 Over the past two days, it has been incredibly inspiring to be part of Maritime Innovation Week, engaging in vital discussions around maritime innovation and decarbonisation. I was honored to present on the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub, where I showcased our findings across five key research themes. My colleague Janie Ling Chin and Claire Copeland were also there sharing their insights. The experience reinforced the critical role of research in driving the future of a sustainable maritime sector. Day 2 brought some particularly powerful takeaways: 🔹 Fostering collaboration: Bringing together diverse stakeholders to align efforts. 🔹 Enabling knowledge and technology transformation: Bridging innovation from lab to implementation. 🔹 Informing policy decision-making: Providing evidence-based insights to shape impactful regulations.
