Industrial boilers are used to produce steam and hot water in a wide variety of sectors and for many different purposes. High-quality feed water is essential for ensuring the energy efficiency of boilers and protecting vital components from damage and degradation.The presence of water impurities can cause scaling and corrosion, which in turn reduces the effectiveness of heat transference and impacts the efficiency and performance of the system. This corrosion can also shorten the life of key components and the boiler as a whole. Often the most basic solution to reducing scale build-up is to implement a water-softening system that removes the scale-forming calcium and magnesium salts from water. This delivers the minimum level of water purity required for low and medium-pressure boilers. If you are a water treatment consultant and your team requested your advice about the problem of suddenly increasing product water TDS without any change in product water flow or pressure difference on the Ro unit, what would be your advice ? Definitely, you have to start a probing test on your RO plant so what is a probing test ? it's a test that is usually applied to RO pressure vessels in order to identify the source of the increase in TDS, and simply first of all you have to take a sample of water from the sample point of each vessel and check its TDS by your TDS meter until you get the vessel with abnormal value of TDS. then start entering a flexible tube such as a dosing tube inside that vessel through the product opening and start pulling it outside point by point after taking samples from three points for each element in this vessel first point at the middle of the element second point at the first o ring seal of inter connector third point at the end o ring seal of the inter connector after checking water at each point you will be able to find the exact location of the increase in TDS whether it's a cut in o ring seal or damage in the element itself.

Traditionally, water hardness levels above 200 ppm have been the benchmark for considering scale control and prevention solutions. However, with the growing use of highly efficient domestic hot water generation systems—often incorporating particulate-sensitive plate heat exchangers—the water quality requirements are becoming more stringent Manufacturers of water-connected equipment are now setting specific water quality standards for their systems. So it's no longer just about asking "is the water hardness greater than 200ppm?" it's now about asking "what does the manufacturer of my critical water connected plant require" These more stringent water quality requirements now mean that in areas where it's traditionally been considered that limescale prevention and control would not be required, this is no longer the case with some manufacturers requiring a feed water hardness of as low as 50ppm. This is not just critical to ensure the efficiencies of these newer technologies are maintained, but it's often the case that adherence to the water quality requirements are conditional to the validity of the manufacturer's warranty.
