New review on the European Heart Journal 💻 The HeartSim research team at PrediSurge, in partnership with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and Hôpital Saint Joseph of Marseille, has contributed a significant study to the European Heart Journal Cardiovascular Imaging, demonstrating the precision of our PlanOp® Structural Heart software in simulating Mitral Valve interventions. This work, which reflects an impact factor of 6.3, marks an important advancement in the field of cardiovascular care. Our research focused on a case study involving a 73-year-old patient, successfully treated with a Mitraclip XTL® for severe mitral regurgitation. The application of our finite element prototype software accurately predicted the outcomes of this intervention, offering a promising tool for future cardiovascular treatments. This publication underscores the potential of digital simulation technologies to improve patient outcomes and supports our ongoing commitment to innovation in healthcare: https://bit.ly/3U9ILhW 🌐 #cardiovascular #care #digital #solutions #planop #clinicians #technology #digitaltwin

Photon Counting CT: Improved Cost-effectiveness and decreased complications against Standard Energy-Integrating Detector-CT. Another important advantage.
‼️Hot off the press‼️ The first ever #photoncounting CT (PCD-CT) cost effectiveness analysis for CCTA by Milan Vecsey-Nagy from #MUSCcvi. In this simulation study, PCD-CT demonstrated its potential in reducing the financial burden of CCTA on healthcare systems by saving an average of $794.5 per patient compared to standard energy-integrating detector CT. The implementation of PCD-CT in stable chest pain could result in a 18.9% decrease in downstream functional tests, and a 9.4% decrease in major procedure-related complications. https://lnkd.in/gXn3qFJE Tilman Emrich, MD, EBCR, FSCMR Giuseppe Tremamunno Dr. Dmitrij Kravchenko Gerald Laux U. 🌍 Innovation Spotlight: BiVacor – The Future of Artificial Hearts The third invention in our Greatest Inventions of 2024 series showcases a groundbreaking development in cardiac care. Nearly 25 years after losing his father to heart failure, Australian biomedical engineer Daniel Timms is transforming the future of medicine with his company, BiVacor. BiVacor has developed an artificial heart that mimics the function of a real human heart, propelling blood throughout the body. This year, as part of an ongoing feasibility study, three U.S. patients received BiVacor hearts. These artificial hearts kept the patients alive long enough to receive donor organs—a remarkable milestone in medical innovation. Daniel Timms’ ambitions don’t stop at short-term solutions. If early trials prove successful, BiVacor plans to test the device’s ability to function indefinitely, potentially eliminating the need for live-organ transplants. This groundbreaking innovation could redefine cardiac care, offering hope to countless patients and families worldwide. “This device didn’t exist for my family,” Timms says, “but it could be life-changing—and life-saving—for others.” What do you think about the potential of artificial hearts to replace live-organ transplants? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned as we continue to spotlight the Greatest Inventions of 2024! Tivic Health Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVC), a pioneer in bioelectronic medicine, consistently demonstrates its commitment to advancing medical technology through rigorous research and innovative practices. In a collaborative effort with The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research at Northwell Health, Tivic Health has substantiated the effectiveness of its proprietary non-invasive cervical vagus nerve stimulation (ncVNS) method. This technology, designed to elicit responses across the autonomic, cardiac, and central nervous systems, holds promising implications for the treatment of multiple significant diseases. Further details from the pilot study reveal Tivic Health's ncVNS approach resulted in a remarkable 97% increase in heart rate variability, alongside notable enhancements in brain activity metrics, such as a 24% rise in frontal theta power and a 66% reduction in frontal gamma power. Such findings not only underscore the potential of ncVNS in treatment of medical conditions but also reaffirm Tivic Health's role at the forefront of non-invasive medical solutions. This commitment is echoed by Tivic Health’s leadership, with Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Blake Gurfein, PhD, noting the considerable impact of these results on future product development and market strategies. This dedication to innovation is a core component of Tivic Health's mission to improve life's vibrancy through cutting-edge bioelectronic medicine. https://lnkd.in/g46CNiBW #tivic #nasdaq #tivc #clearup #bioelectronic #sinus Jennifer Ernst
