Last week, we had a fabulous visit and full-day workshop with The Salvos in Bourke Street, Melbourne. We learnt that every 17 seconds, someone is helped by the Salvos and at this time of the year, over 3000 meals a week are provided alone at the Bourke Street Project base.  We were also relieved that 100% of our donations is directly transferred to the ongoing care and support projects.  Good can take countless forms, but the aim remains the same — to inspire people to not only believe in good for themselves and work towards that, but also come together and create change that is good for all. After all, that’s what the Salvos do each day. During our workshops throughout the day, we walked through the inner-city of Melbourne and listened to the real stories of community building and healthy positive changes through the work of over 6000 Salvo Soldiers across Australia.  Every day and night, the Bourke Street Project Home is open for all members of the community to visit and create a home. Jem. P. Ronnie was a young orphan begging on the streets of Kampala, Uganda, when he encountered a good samaritan. She asked why he wasn't in school, and eventually helped him find his educational footing. That was the impetus for him to eventually launch the nonprofit Go So High Foundation (GSHF), which focuses on "educating and nurturing marginalized children to discover themselves and to unleash their potential in order for them to achieve their dreams in the right way." A child has the right to a **safe, stable, and permanent home**. From building stronger communities to educating children in schools and supporting local charities, we've made a real difference in the lives of over 32,500 people. Funded by RI Cares, Better Futures focuses on: Communities: Developing hygienic habits in underprivileged areas. Schools: Educating children on hand hygiene, water hygiene, personal safety, and road safety. Charities/NGOs: Supporting local orphanages and vulnerable children. This year our partners at The Mate Foundation visited two schools, Gwakaithi and Kanyueri Seconday, to introudce new students to menstrual hygiene management and the benefits of reusable pads. Through hands-on training, they were shown how to use and care for the pads, while answering the big question: 'Why reusable?'.
