Happy to share that my article on "𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔" recently got published on WOArchitect! 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤: https://lnkd.in/dbqPxDKV I got the drive and motivation to write this piece as an attempt to decode how the building industry contributes to this ever so horrific scenario of plastic pollution. Clogged oceans, dying marine life, overflowing landfills... A grim scene that immediately comes to mind is- Earth as an endless dumpyard as picturised in the Disney Pixar movie- 𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑬. The UN has also emphasised on "𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒔" this year, urging all sectors to #unplastic through responsible processes. "𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒓𝒆-𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 ?" This is the question I try to explore in this piece. The term "sustainability" has already become popular across several sectors. Given that construction accounts for an important amount of the global consumption of energy, it should come as no surprise that sustainable design is now a top priority when developing new structures and urban areas. Currently, architects have challenges in creating designs that are exceptional in both form and function, as well as in their ability to develop integrated solutions that include environmental considerations. Green architecture, or environmental architecture, are other terms for sustainable architecture. It puts pressure on architects to create clever designs and make effective use of existing technology to guarantee that buildings have as few negative impacts on the environment and the community as possible. #sustainability #greenarchitecture #environment

Materiality with a Conscience There’s something profoundly meaningful about using local materials in architecture. Not only does it cut down on transportation costs and reduce environmental impact, but it also ties the building to its surroundings in a way that’s deeply rooted. When we choose materials from the earth, from the communities they serve, we’re honoring both the environment and the people who live there.
