TWO NEW LIGHTHOUSES IN ODISHA, CELEBRATING INDIA’S MARITIME HERITAGE AND ECONOMIC POTENTIAL GROWTH. Odisha will soon have two new lighthouses at Chaumukha in Balasore and Dhamra in Bhadrak, announced Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during the 2nd Indian Lighthouse Festival. These additions aim to promote tourism and empower coastal communities. Odisha currently boasts five operational lighthouses: Gopalpur, Puri, Chandrabhaga, Paradip, and False Point. Sonowal highlighted lighthouse tourism's exponential growth, with visitors increasing from 400,000 in 2014 to 1.6 million last fiscal year. Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, ₹60 crore has been invested to upgrade 75 iconic lighthouses, adding museums, amphitheaters, and parks. The festival, recognized nationally, celebrates India's maritime heritage and aims to enhance tourist experiences. Notable attendees included Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Ministers Shantanu Thakur and Suresh Gopi. These developments solidify lighthouses as symbols of heritage and economic growth. #MYBhubaneswar - Share and stay updated.
