Meet an EMBL ‘DORA champion’ Andrew Hogan, who is a member of EMBL’s Responsible Research Assessment Working Group. The Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) aims to establish solid, trustworthy strategies to assess research around the globe and across all academic disciplines. EMBL officially signed DORA in 2018 and convened a group two years later to help implement the principles and spread the word on the importance of rethinking how we can improve upon traditional research assessment approaches. Hogan shared his thoughts on the importance of establishing unbiased, fair strategies to assess research and researchers within EMBL and beyond. Read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gUWgWrht

On November 19, 2024, Professor Bruce Lewenstein presented “Does Public Engagement Work? An Empirical Test,” a plenary lecture at the Communicating Discovery Sciences symposium, which took place in Stellenbosch South Africa. One argument for “public engagement with science” is that engagement activities will make science itself “better.” But what does “better” mean? In his talk, Bruce will explore how the public engagement program of the NSF-funded Center for Research on Programmable Plant Systems makes the science itself better.

Learn from our proceedings💡🧑🏫👨🏽🏫👩🏻🏫! We continue to share knowledge and research findings related to safety of blood and plasma-derived medicines.
We look back on a very successful IPFA/PEI Workshop that took place in Aarhus, Denmark on 15-16 May. Our 30th Anniversary meeting was characterized by the same high quality and stimulating scientific presentations and engaging discussions with the audience, as we have seen in this long series of workshops which started in 1994, and have evolved with the help of many collaborators into the joint workshop with PEI it has been for the last 20 years. With heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the success of this year’s meeting! We are happy to announce that the proceedings are now available online: https://lnkd.in/dvVgkeha
