QFCC Youth Advocate Judas reflects on a pivotal moment, when they realised their mental health was different from others'. ‘Realising that you don’t think like everybody else is like going to another person's house for the first time as a kid. It’s confusing and uncomfortable when you discover that the way your family does things is not the way everyone else does—the way that you have dinner, and clean and stack your shoes is different.’ We need to listen to young people with lived experience of the mental health system and include their views when considering how to improve services. 🔗Read the full post here: https://lnkd.in/gjcVrdzb #QFCC #AmplifyBlog

Empowering children and youth, especially young caregivers, to care for their mental health is as important as teaching them essential life skills like problem-solving or building healthy relationships. Just as we emphasize the importance of looking after our physical health, it's equally important to help the youth take care of their mental well-being at a young age 🧠 National Child and Youth Mental Health Day reminds us to recognize that youth go through tough times too (especially those who are closely connected to someone living with a serious mental illness!). It's a time to make sure they feel heard, understood, and supported. That means talking openly about mental health, teaching them the ins and outs of mental illness, and giving them the tools that help them address their own mental health needs. Together, we can make sure every young person knows it's okay to talk about how they feel and ask for help when they need it 🤝💜 #bcssyouth #bcschizophrenia #schizophrenia #youthcaregivers #mentalhealth #mentalillness #youthandchildmentalhealthday #youthmentalhealth #thingstodoYVR

Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) are critical yet often overlooked areas in global health discussions. The statistics from recent reports reveal a staggering number of individuals affected by mental health issues worldwide. This raises an important question: Are we prioritizing mental health in our approach to public health? The stark reality is that mental health challenges do not discriminate, affecting young and old, rich and poor, across all cultures. Yet, the corresponding support systems are frequently underfunded and under-resourced. It's crucial for professionals in all sectors to consider how they can influence policies and create a supportive environment for mental health initiatives. Let’s foster a respectful debate: How can we collectively elevate the discourse around mental health and ensure better support for those in need? What practical steps can we take in our communities and workplaces? 💡🗨️ #MentalHealthMatters #Support #PublicHealth #Community #Leadership https://lnkd.in/gNaWxHFX

🧠 Supporting Young Boys' Mental Health: Building Resilience for Adulthood 🧠 One of the best ways to support future generations is by helping young boys feel comfortable addressing their mental health needs now. If boys grow up learning that it’s okay to seek help, they’re much more likely to ask for it as adults without feeling shame or stigma. We can help by creating safe, positive spaces for boys to express their emotions, encouraging open conversations, and showing that vulnerability is a sign of strength—not weakness. By building a strong foundation of mental health support from a young age, we’re setting them up to thrive in every area of life. Let’s break the cycle of stigma and raise a generation that’s unafraid to ask for the support they need. 💬💪 #MentalHealthMatters #SupportingBoys #BreakingTheStigma #FutureGenerations #Movember
