🩺🩻 Cambridge-based health-tech startup PocDoc has secured £5 million in a pre-A funding round. This is the largest pre-A raise for a UK digital diagnostics business. With this round, the total funding raised by PocDoc accounts for over £10 million. This new investment will support the company’s continued rapid growth, fuelled by its growing list of pharmacy, retail, and corporate partnerships, as well as its deepening relationships with the NHS across the UK. 📈 The investment came from MMC Ventures, Molten Ventures, and Simplyhealth Ventures. Sword Health, a Digital Therapeutics venture founded in Portugal in 2014, has raised $30 million and enabled employees to sell $100 million worth of equity to new and existing investors, including Khosla Ventures. This latest round has elevated the 10-year-old company’s valuation to $3 billion, a 50% increase from its Series D valuation of $2 billion in November 2021. 🎉 Initially, Sword Health's Series D1 round aimed at facilitating a $100 million secondary transaction to allow employees and early investors to sell shares. #DigitalHealth has become a crucial sector of the #healthcareindustry, with companies leveraging technology for everything from lowering #patients’ risk of developing heart disease to creating #digitaltwins to improve #clinicaltrials. Researchers from digital health strategy group and #venturefund Rock Health took a look back at where #investors put their money in the digital health field in 2024. They found that #venturecapital (VC) firms are largely favoring early-stage #startups and sticking to tried-and-true areas like #artificialintelligence (#AI). The report also found that major funds like Andreessen Horowitz’s #a16z and General Catalyst are gaining more influence. In 2024, US-based #digitalhealthstartups raised a total of $10.1 billion in 497 deals, according to Rock Health’s January 13 analysis. That’s slightly down from 2023 when startups raised $10.8 billion in 503 deals, and is almost the same amount they raised pre-pandemic in 2019 ($8.2 billion in 425 deals) when accounting for inflation.
