Breaking the silence is the first step to ending domestic violence. Domestic abuse is not "an isolated incident." It is an epidemic. Domestic abuse is not "a family matter." It is domestic terrorism, and it affects every fiber of our society. Domestic abuse is not a relationship. It is a hostage situation. Victims often can't “just leave.” They may need help to escape. It's up to all of us to find those solutions, educate ourselves, learn to recognize the signs, and end this epidemic. If you or someone you know needs help, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1−800−799−SAFE (7233). #StandTogether #EndDomesticViolenceNow#safetyplan #AbuseSurvivors#TraumaRecovery #HealingHeartsCounseling#domesticviolence #domesticabuse#domesticviolenceawareness #emotionalabuse#abuse #narcissisticabuse #narcissist#survivor #gaslighting #toxicrelationships#mentalhealth #ptsd #trauma #healing#divorce #womenempowerment#narcissisticabusesurvivor #women #selflove#sociopath #love #narcissism#domesticviolencesurvivor #manipulation

In our latest video, Daniel Somers from MANUP? and Fergus McQueen from AMIS (Abused Men In Scotland) delves into the critical and often overlooked issue of male domestic violence. Despite the stigma and silence surrounding this topic, the reality is stark: around 751,000 men in the UK suffered domestic abuse last year alone. This represents about 3.2% of the male population aged 16 and over. Shockingly, one in seven men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, yet many suffer in silence. Only 4.8% of domestic abuse service users are men, highlighting a significant gap in support. The impact is devastating, with 6.5% of male victims contemplating suicide due to the abuse they endure. Join us in breaking the silence. Let's bring male domestic violence out of the shadows and into the light. We can create a safer and more supportive environment for all survivors. Domestic Violence is Violence, no matter if the perpetrator is a man or a woman. I've watched this video a few times this week and it is interesting to see what the differences are when the abuser is a man: - People come to the aid of the woman - People are saying its not okay - People are checking that the woman is okay. BUT, when the woman is the abuser: - No one says anything - People laugh - No one comes to the man's aid. Now ask yourself, why? ⁉️🤔 Surely anyone who is being assaulted should have the aid of passer-by's? Is it we have a stigma that Men are always the perpetrator and that if they are not, they are weak and it's funny? Several people in that video laughed when they saw the woman hit him. 40% of domestic abuse victims are men. The stigma around this means that they may not speak up and feel ashamed to say anything. Lets check up on our colleagues and friends and if you suspect something is going on, report it. Men are far more likely to sadly take their own life compared to women. Together, lets end the stigma around Domestic Violence against Men and Women and empower people to speak up and get support. No one deserves this. No one. As always, there are some great charities that are out there to support you. Raising awareness about the nature and impact of narcissistic abuse is crucial for better understanding and supporting victims, as well as for improving legal and social responses to this form of domestic violence. The Mission of 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 is to provide comprehensive services to individuals and their children who have experienced family violence, to educate and train the community on the issue of family violence/sexual assault, to increase self-sufficiency and to reduce recidivism. 𝟐𝟒- 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞 | 𝟕𝟕𝟎-𝟖𝟖𝟕-𝟏𝟏𝟐𝟏 https://lnkd.in/gzQdKETc #SpeakOutAgainstAbuse #abusiverelationship #teendatingviolence #Every1KnowsSome1 #survivor #FACTS #truth #powerandcontrol #EndTheCycleOfAbuse #domesticviolence #forsythcountyga #cumminglocal

We must acknowledge the bold efforts of MSF in providing statistics and raising awareness about family violence. A community-wide approach is essential to manage and stop family violence. Having worked with families and victims since 1992, I have witnessed the devastating, long-lasting effects of family violence, often impacting multiple generations. Many victims never fully recover, and children sometimes grow up to repeat the cycle. Despite the best efforts of the Ministry and its partners, we still encounter parents and spouses justifying family violence. Heartbreakingly, some victims internalize it, believing they "deserved it." The larger issue is the unreported cases. According to a UNODC report, as many as half of the victims never tell anyone, suggesting the reported figures are only a fraction of that real situation (UNODC 2021, Asia Pathways, 2023). An ST article from 2022 noted a slight increase in reports, with 5,190 cases in 2021 compared to 5,134 in 2020. Looking at the current data, Tier 1 is still rising. We are far from having made any progress. While awareness is growing, the real numbers remain unclear. In a high-pressure society like ours, bold, extensive efforts and a community-wide "zero tolerance" approach are necessary to end this hidden cruelty behind closed doors that we call “home”
United Against Domestic Violence 👨👩👧👦 We released our first Domestic Violence Trends Report today. Data from 2021 to 2023 has shown a decline in cases with high safety and risk concerns and an increase in cases with low to moderate safety and risk concerns. This suggests growing awareness and willingness to seek early intervention and support, which prevented cases from escalating in risk. Domestic violence is not always easy to detect as it often happens behind closed doors. It requires everyone to be vigilant to report suspected abuse. Thank you to our community partners and agencies for your tireless work in tackling the issue of domestic violence. Every case of abuse is one too many. Let us continue to build strong and stable families where we are loved and supported ❤️ You can read our report at go.gov.sg/msfdvreport2024 #BreakTheSilenceSG

Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, let's confront a harsh reality. In my recent talk, I shared an emotional journey through the cycle of domestic violence. It’s not just about physical abuse—it’s the emotional manipulation, the isolation, and the psychological scars that victims endure silently. 💡 What does it take for a victim to break free? Support. Awareness. And the courage to speak up. I highlighted a real case where justice, resilience, and community support helped a woman and her child escape abuse. It’s proof that change is possible when we work together to empower survivors. 🎥 Watch my talk to understand how abuse perpetuates and what we can do to end it. Let’s use our voices to stand against domestic violence. 👉 Link to video: https://lnkd.in/d9JU22hz #DomesticViolence #EndAbuse #EmpowerWomen #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen #JusticeForSurvivors #LinkedInCommunity

Many people worry about getting involved when they suspect someone they know is experiencing abuse. But domestic violence thrives in silence, and abusers are more powerful when their victims don't have support. If you're worried about a loved one, ask them how you can safely help. It's up to all of us to support survivors and be part of the solution. The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) will conduct its 19th Annual Domestic Violence Counts Survey TODAY, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, starting at 8:00 AM. DV Counts is an annual, noninvasive, unduplicated count of adults and children who seek services from U.S. domestic violence programs during a single 24-hour survey period. It takes into account the dangerous nature of domestic violence by using a survey designed to protect the confidentiality and safety of victims. This count of survivors seeking domestic violence services across the country helps us and domestic violence programs spotlight survivors' needs and bring their stories to lawmakers.
