Embracing the Future of Accessibility: Insights and Predictions from Perkins Access Team The Perkins Access team shares insightful predictions that promise to shape the accessibility landscape in 2024. Highlights from 2023: Examples like Apple's Emmy-winning accessibility-focused short film “The Greatest” or the official upgrade of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) show that in the past year the importance of accessibility grew. As we witnessed the digitization of products and services, Perkins Access remains committed to a vision where no one is marginalized due to poor design or user experience. 3 Predictions for 2024: 1. Authenticity and Accessibility (Gayemarie): "Authentic" defined 2023, and authenticity will continue to be paramount. In an era of transparency, brands can no longer hide. Consumers demand authenticity in inclusion and accessibility. Accessibility is no longer optional; it's an expectation, and the public will call for organizations to meet the needs of everyone. 2. Rise of AccessibilityOps (Gary): AccessibilityOps will gain prominence in 2024 for digital companies. AI, machine learning, voice-generated algorithms, and generative AI will disrupt testing methodologies. Accessibility experts will play a pivotal role in strategic initiatives, influencing customer experience, brand reputation, and commerce. 3. Inclusive Marketing (Danielle): Marketing campaigns will see increased disability and diversity representation. Accessibility features will be showcased across channels, emphasizing the creation of more inclusive customer experiences. Navigating the future of user interfaces: Generative vs. intent-based. Who'll make the race? Two interesting contenders have emerged in my point of view. Generative user interfaces theoretically able to dynamically generate GUI elements tailored to individual preferences and context. Offering adaptability and a seamless and intuitive user experience by anticipating needs and adjusting in real-time. Intent-based interfaces, focusing on "understanding" user intent and executing actions accordingly. Interpreting user commands without the need for traditional input methods. While both have their merits, there's a compelling case for intent-based interfaces. Imagine a mobile device controlled by a chatbot-like assistant, where users interact effortlessly through natural language commands, simplifying interactions and promoting accessibility. What are your thoughts on the future of user interfaces? #UserInterfaces #UI #FutureTech #IntentBasedInterfaces #AugmentedReality #ChatbotUI #Innovation #TechTrends

Ever wondered how language shapes our digital experiences? As tech giants focus on connecting with Indian users, understanding the nuances of local dialects is crucial for crafting effective UX and especially now when AI is making inroads in every digital interaction. At Turian Labs, we go beyond traditional research, tapping into our design thinking DNA to uncover deeper cultural insights. Recently, our team watched English Vinglish, a film that brilliantly captures the unique structures, emotional depth, and cultural vibrancy of the English language. Language is a reflection of our identity. As we work on localizing digital experiences, we're reminded of how language can shape user connections with technology.
