The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has implored the federal government to the Birogo River in Bayelsa State to open Yenagoa, the state capital, as maritime and oil business hub. The plea was made by Barr. Esueme Kikile, General Manager of Corporate Communications and Zonal Coordination at NCDMB, during a Practical Nigerian Content program tour of the First Marine Engineering Services (FMES) logistics site. @salvage_and_wreck Taiwanese Tanker Damaged in Kaohsiung Port Incident\n On Saturday, June 8, the product tanker TONG YUN, operated by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), sustained significant damage while leaving Kaohsiung port. The 40,500 dwt vessel, built in 2011, misjudged a turn, resulting in a large gash on its starboard side aft. Fortunately, the tanks were not punctured, and the ship was not at risk of sinking.\n The incident occurred as TONG YUN attempted to avoid other port traffic. The vessel’s starboard side allided with a concrete stanchion, causing the damage. The port authority granted emergency permission for the tanker to return to the dock, and it was back at berth by Saturday evening.\nIn response to the incident, oil booms were deployed around the ship, and personnel were dispatched to monitor its status to ensure environmental safety.
